  Re: Minifig torsos...

It seems to me like it would make it a LOT easier to snap the minifig strongly onto standard bricks. That's about the only thing I can think of offhand. (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Minifig torsos...

(...) Safe to call it a hypothesis? (...) How does an increase in the amount of plastic ribbing inside the bottom of the minifig torso change its connection properties? (That's not a rhetorical question to suggest that it doesn't; it's a real (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Minifig torsos...

(...) Yup! That was our thought too (Joshua pointed it out to me). Now, other than old Castle queen minifigs with 2x2x2 sloped dresses and galleons figures on the front of pirateships (both of which haven't been in production for eons) what sorts of (...)   Re: Minifig torsos...

(...) Hmmm.... larger than normal minifigs or robot minifigs? Also envisioning a centaur. Oh, and Chewbacca, I suppose. (25 years ago, 10-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Minifig torsos...

(...) That doesn't seem to be the case. At least in the limited test I performed. If anything, the bond between the standard plate and the X-torso was weaker than the bond between the plate and the standard torso. But the new torso interior could (...) (25 years ago, 10-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Minifig torsos...

(...) Just remember: I've got plenty of opinions, and many of them are wrong. It's still interesting that the new torsos appeared in a limited-release 'theme' (the soccer sets). I don't have any of those sets handy, I wonder if *all* the 'figs in (...) (25 years ago, 11-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Minifig torsos...

(...) I got 6390 Main Street not too long ago, and guess what? The torsos had nothing inside! They're very loose! I noticed the new X-torsos seem to bond more tightly than the ones from a couple years ago. It seems to me they're just making them (...) (25 years ago, 11-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Minifig torsos...

I've got torso's like this in other sets. Since I don't have any of the soccer sets I'd have to say they are the only ones with it. I noticed this too.. I believe it began with the new Ninjas that I really noticed it.. don't remember getting many (...) (25 years ago, 11-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Minifig torsos...

(...) Right. So the torso-mold-replacement seems to have happened between the production runs for 1998 and 1999. Right about the time the soccer sets would have been produced. Steve (25 years ago, 11-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Minifig torsos...

(...) I think you may be right, though! -- I tried putting a few 1x2 bricks into a couple of the new torsos, and while it seemed like it'd hold better, it sure didn't seem to, just as you'd said. (...) Another weird thing is that I saw one old torso (...) (25 years ago, 11-May-99, to lugnet.general)
