Well, a recent inspection of bricklink prices suggests that Harry Potter is the
overpopulating minifig of the moment. You can get a Harry for 1/2 the price of
a Timmy. Harry is ever cheaper than the dreaded Jar Jar Binks. Although there
is also a proliferation of Draco Malfoys in the HP Chamber of Secrets sets, the
re-usability of the Draco head/hair is much greater than the
Harry-with-the-lightning-bolt head with the had-a-fight-with-the-lawn-mower
hair, so I predict that Draco will hold his price better than Harry.
Given that we can expect more HP sets over the next few years, it is clear that
LEGO should be providing a Harry Potter recycling facility for reuse in next
year's sets. No doubt some environmentalist could give us the stats on the
proportion of the world's landfill being taken up by unwanted Harrys to fuel
public debate over this needless over-supply of Harrys. I can see it now "Trade
2 Harrys and get a Hermione. Trade 3 Harrys and get a Dumbledore. Or trade 6
Harrys and get a sand-red Gilderoy Lockhart!"
