Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

In lugnet.general, Todd Lehman writes: <clip discussion about what's a minifig or not> (...) it's (...) I agree, Todd. Ben Gatrelle (26 years ago, 7-May-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

(...) I agree it's gray. but to me a minifig has to have the torso capable of accepting legs (per the def'n posted), minifig hands, and a minifig head. I agree that some of the older space fig robots aren't yellow headed, nor is Darth. But I'd call (...) (26 years ago, 7-May-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

(...) Actually, doesn't the "minifig" classification fail? They're not action figures (1). Because there are three minifigs on the box, doesn't necessarily mean that you get three minifigs with that set. Swap heads between them, and you get three (...)   Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

But by your definition, JarJar IS a minifig: "I agree it's gray. but to me a minifig has to have the torso capable of accepting legs (per the def'n posted), minifig hands, and a minifig head. " The fact that he doesn't come with a standard minifig (...) (26 years ago, 7-May-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

(...) No, you're reading it too fast because I wrote it too fast... (...) Capable, HAS, HAS. Jar Jar doesn't HAVE the minifig head, he's only capable of having it. The HASes were implied. (26 years ago, 8-May-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

(...) Yes. By my definition. To each his own. (26 years ago, 8-May-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

(...) Isn't that kinda being contradictory with Jar Jar? I mean he's got a minifig torso, arms, hands, legs, and even a minifig head, it's just not round. So you would say that if I took off Jar Jar's head and put it on Anakin's body that Anakin (...) (26 years ago, 8-May-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

(...) You do realise that by that logic, any current day minifig is not a minifig by virtue of not having a classic smilie? Or, hell, even by virtue of having arms and movable legs... Jasper (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

(...) ?? You lost me. I think we're talking about current minifigs, not the pre 197x ones, and I'm not too concerned about printing. My thesis, such as it was, is that a minifig has to have a minifig head, of whatever color and printing, but that (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

(...) This kind of makes sense, because a minifig ought to be able to use any and all minifig accessories that it wants to. Jar Jar obviously can't wear hats and helmets. The skeletons /can/ wear whatever they want (and they look really cool in (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jun-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

Sorry... but I thought that it was the fact that they were small, lego representations of people that made them mini-figs. Why is this over-analyzed? I say a skeleton IS a mini-fig, just as Jar-Jar is too. They are small figures that fit to a (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jun-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: to Minifig or not to Minifig ? (was: Star Wars fixes)

(...) You collect Lego and you have to ask this question?? :-) We analyse everything. This is an anal-ytic hobby. Hyphen deliberate. I love it. Actually, geeks analyse everything. Tell me you're not a geek. I am, and proud of it. Yes, the minifig (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jun-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

*sigh* Okay... now at least I know where everyone is coming from.... you're all just crazy! ;-) First there were 'Lego Purists'... now 'Mini-Fig Purists'... why not. -Geoff (25 years ago, 7-Jun-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)
