I've noticed the large pictures myself. A few years ago, when I bought my
first digital cam, I posted some big pics on BrickShelf and got some notes
saying "Nice photos but TOO BIG!" I immediately removed then and posted
smaller ones.
Since then, when I do post stuff there I'll make a reduced copy of the
original to either an 800x600 or go down to 640x480. Like Ross said, when
you're on a 56K (really going at 31K if lucky!) then it can take a bit to
download a 1024x768 but I've seen larger ones up. It's those bigger than
1024x768 that take up the time.
Scrolling is good for those pics where you've got a panorama proportions
like the pic you've got here:

Generally, I don't mind it if the details given are worth looking at (but
sometimes ...).

| I want to bring this up because I find that some of pictures on Brickshelf tend to be very large. Now I am sure I am guilty of this as well. Because on my PC I have my resolution at 1024x768. But sometimes I run into pictures that are a greater (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)
