well, interesting question :) So I ran a script on all the inventories on
peeron (note, this is only stuff we have inventoried, so only about 1000
sets out of more than 4500)... There's some weird things at the bottom,
which I'd say can be safely ignored... We think the #1 position is because
of all the Technic sets, with all their black pins, and the Gray is second
because we have almost all the castle sets inventoried... Here's the
results:
1. Black -> 42185
2. Gray -> 27701
3. White -> 16999
4. Red -> 15108
5. Yellow -> 13936
6. Blue -> 11325
7. DkGray -> 6694

12. TrRed -> 896
13. Clear -> 676
14. TrFlYellow -> 644
15. TrYellow -> 633
16. TrOrange -> 631

21. Orange -> 303
22. TrBlue -> 302

| (...) Interesting results Dan, The Peeron inventories are biased towards the more recent sets, right? This may explain why Mike's red prediction wasn't accepted by your results. On the other hand, LEGO most likely produces many times the amount of (...) (23 years ago, 15-Dec-01, to lugnet.general)

| This is a good start. Some suggestions for modifying the results: 1. Look at only a few common parts, especially bricks. I've acquired hundreds of 1x2 plates with clips from recent sets. While these are common, they are tiny. I'd rather know how (...) (23 years ago, 15-Dec-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)
