Wow, I'd never noticed that.  You're right, the helmet styles changed
in the early 80's to have a thicker chin guard.  But even still most
of my early helmets are not cracked in the chin area, and I really
played with those sets heavily.  I have maybe 1-in-8 broken of those
early played-with sets.

This difference in helmet types is something else for me to look for
when collecting sets, to see if helmets have been substituted.
