Yeah, obviously it was nominated by people who aren't quite in tune, since
the average LUGNET *member* at least (I dunno about poster) is around 30
years old... Either that or they're all old enough to call us kids still :)

You sound like you don't think that it belonged in the Kids category, but
the evidence you offer is irrelevant.

Sure, I'm 28, but that doesn't mean I'm not a kid who plays with Lego.

Oh definitely-- it IS a matter of opinion, it's just that *I* don't see it
as a "kid" category site BECAUSE the majority of people involved aren't what
I typically think of as "kids". I mean, if Lugnet was an even distribution
of people of all ages, sure. But Lugnet doesn't really have a strong
"kid"/"child" contingency. Sure, we've got a bunch, but at least to me it
seems like a minority. The statistic I presented was merely to back that up
with whatever verifiable evidence exists.

Basically, what it boils down to is that I don't feel that Lugnet is a kids'
site. But if a large number of the posters were young kids, I'd personally
feel that I'd be more willing to call it a kids' site. But whatever. Maybe
it was considered for nominations in other categories but had strong
opposition? Maybe the kids category didn't? I dunno.

I guess the part that I'm not thrilled about is the fact that it seems to
reinforce the "age-old" belief that Lego is just for kids. And somehow when
people think of it that way, it demeans the art in their eyes. And hey,
that's fine, but I'd rather that people were able to see past that. And this
won't help, I don't think.

But in all honesty? It's really of little importance to me, and probably to
most of us. Because we DO know that it's not just for kids or any lesser.
And anyone who really investigates the site WILL find out that we're a
majority of adults who have fun with bricks, and hopefully they'll see
something that really sparks their interest or gives them respect for the
art. So really? It doesn't bother me. It's certainly an honor for Lugnet,
even if I'd prefer that it were in another category. I don't really think
it's worth loosing any sleep over though.
