Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —Scott Sanburn
Jonathon & All, (...) section? And with things like Teenwire, the propoganda (SP?)site from Planned Parenthood? Do we need these kinds of awards with other nominees like that? I think LUGNET is far beyond those other sites. Scott S. -- (...) (24 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Sorry, in what way is (URL) propaganda, exactly? It may be presenting information about things that you'd rather it didn't, but that's about it. FUT off-topic.debate (...) There is no way to stop a site from being nominated. ++Lar (24 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —Gary Istok
(...) Lar, how can I put it subtly, Scott (whom I have met, and is a great guy), happens to be a card carrying member, and of the same affiliation as ... (and I am sure he voted for...) dubya. 'Nuff said? (Not that there is anything wrong with (...) (24 years ago, 27-Apr-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —Larry Pieniazek
(...) I have met him too, I think he's a great guy too, and I know what party you mean... but when he throws a zinger like calling this site "propaganda" I am going to zing back. As usual, he doesn't want to discuss his zinger here, (although he (...) (24 years ago, 28-Apr-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —David Eaton
(...) Yeah, obviously it was nominated by people who aren't quite in tune, since the average LUGNET *member* at least (I dunno about poster) is around 30 years old... Either that or they're all old enough to call us kids still :) Oh well... I (...) (24 years ago, 27-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —Jennifer L. Boger
(...) 30? really? wow... hmmm... i don't care if it's under kids or not, at heart, i'm really 8. :) I still even make multicolored boxes like when i was 8 and my whole collection fit into a coffee can. (24 years ago, 27-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —Suzanne D. Rich
(...) A friend of mine had an interesting take on the 'kids' thing. He suggested that, as LEGO appeals to kids, LUGNET also may appeal to kids, even though kids themselves cannot do what we do. i.e. kids like cartoons but can not make them. -Suz (24 years ago, 27-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —Bryan Beckwith
First of all, I want to say that as a member of the LUGNET community, I feel honored that the site has been nominated. It is nice to see something so many people put their time into, receiving the recognition it deserves. While some of you are (...)            Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —Suzanne D. Rich
(...) Yes, the entire community should be proud. The recognition is yours. (I'm still hoping to get a proper 'congratulations to all' on the homepage.) (...) I think it's a fine idea. It's one Todd and I have discussed before. There are many issues (...) (24 years ago, 28-Apr-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —Shiri Dori
(...) Yes!! That's so true. I have baby-sittees who could not (at the time) read yet, but every once in a while I'd take them on lugnet and show them around. They mostly wanted to look at sites with pictures (I think the reasons are obvious!) but (...) (24 years ago, 28-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)

(...) How big do they make coffee cans these days? :-) Rumor has it you guys buy "one of everything"... ++Lar (24 years ago, 30-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —John D. Forinash
(...) You sound like you don't think that it belonged in the Kids category, but the evidence you offer is irrelevant. Sure, I'm 28, but that doesn't mean I'm not a kid who plays with Lego. -JDF (24 years ago, 27-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —Scott Sanburn
To All, (...) I think LUGNET is a primary site for AFOL's, is it not? Just because it is a LEGO related site, it does not mean it is oriented to kids. Far from it. Aren't we all battling this notion that LEGO products are just for kids? (...) Well, (...) (24 years ago, 27-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lugnet nominated for a webby award! —David Eaton
(...) Oh definitely-- it IS a matter of opinion, it's just that *I* don't see it as a "kid" category site BECAUSE the majority of people involved aren't what I typically think of as "kids". I mean, if Lugnet was an even distribution of people of all (...) (24 years ago, 27-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)
