It's a little tricky to define completeness, but by reasonable
qualifications, I'm Wild West complete. By stretched qualifications I'm
Pirate complete (but I don't consider myself to be Pirate Complete).
What I mean by reasonable completeness is to have documentation
supporting having every regular numbered set in a theme. This excludes
service packs, keychains, and other promotional items. Documentation
would include a polybag, box, and or instructions for each set. I have
convinced myself that I have every regular numbered Pirate set, but I
don't have a box for 6251 (but as I was processing a collection I
bought, as I came to the end of the Pirate themed parts, I realized the
set of minifigs which were left was that of 6251, and there is no other
set which has those minifigs). I have bought enough Pirate minifig lots
that even without this strong evidence of having minifigs which probably
came from inside a 6251 box, I will consider myself Pirate regular set
complete as soon as I acquire a 6251 box. I'm also within spitting
distance of being Pirate complete at a more stringent level, in addition
to 6251, all I am missing are all but the latest of the shooting cannon
service packs, a hard cover comic book, a shirt (I didn't bid high
enough on one which was on eBay a week or two ago), and probably a few
other bits (I'm not sure if there's a Pirate keychain for example). I
also don't have every single catalog which features Pirate sets (though
I have a bunch, I at least don't have them in all languages). There are
also sets that I don't have boxes for (6285 comes to mind immediately,
I don't think I have 6271 either). I don't have every box in all
printing variations. I don't have all the sets in unopened condition
(which ultimately would be the only absolute proof of being theme
complete, after all, if you've bought used sets, you might have a
bazillion Pirate Babe's, but they may have all come from inside a 6250
box). I also don't have any Mania Magazines or Brick Kicks, or anything
else like that which feature Pirates.
Even if one allows open boxes, I bet there is no one, not even TLC, who
has one of every single LEGO branded product, even every LEGO branded
product related to LEGO bricks.
