it's also available in the UK shop, price 80GBP.

We've now seen three of these large scale dealiethings.

I wonder how well they are doing? That is, what are the goals of these, is
it opportunistic sales (do it because they're relatively easy to develop and
since they use mostly basic bricks, relatively low cost production),
something to build brand awareness (these would tend to get displayed, I
would think) or something else entirely?

Myself, they kind of leave me cold. But I don't have space to display
everything I would want to display even from my own designs, much less my
current collection, and I don't see them as an economical source of bulk.

They're more economical than set-bursting (in time & effort, not necessarily
straight cash), and more economical than the bulk packs.  They're less
economical than bulk tubs, but have a greater range of parts. <shrug>  The only
reason I haven't picked up a couple of Lady Liberty is that I'm behind on
sorting & storing, not to mention nearing my (self-imposed) storage limits.  In
a couple months, I'll be more optimized on my space, and a couple LLs will go a
long way towards bulking up my supply of verdigris.

I think they're excellent sets (from what I've seen) that go a long long way
towards the kind of model design we'd like to see on the shelves from LEGO, and
a solid range for competing (if not in price) with Megablocks.

I think it's a step forward, and I would put my support into it for that, even
if for no other reason.

James
