(...) Ho hoo! That's it! That's the set that 6463 reminded me of, but I couldn't put a mental finger on it. The prices are interesting to compare, BTW -- this year's 6463 costs $3.99 for 35 pieces (11.4 cents/piece) and 889 from 20 years earlier (...) (26 years ago, 10-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 20 year evolution to get to... where we started

(...) Well...I don't know about the inflation rate, but also consider that the newer set probably has parts that are more expensive to make - the gold-plated dome thingy and visor [1] for instance. That said, I think my ideal set would be a (...) (26 years ago, 10-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 20 year evolution to get to... where we started

(...) Agreed. Mine too. But unlike in LC (which used the same visor but the standard town helmet) the new helmet has issues. Either way for me is springy. One a little, one a lot. YMMV. (...) (26 years ago, 10-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 20 year evolution to get to... where we started

(...) It's on the low side, I'd say, especially considering that there are as lot larger pieces on the new one. (the dome appears to be usefgul in Mindstorms context as a reflecting m,irror for the IR port - haven't tried that yet, tho) jasper (26 years ago, 10-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)
