Mike,
The application I expect to release this weekend handles all of these
features (grouping like-vertical plates into bricks, you may choose
which colors to use, displays/generates a partitioning map for you,
etc...)
Later versions I hope to even allow you to guide the partitioning so as
to try to match certain piece distributions as closely as possible (say,
for example, to try to get brick distributions of similar proportion as
that of the Bulk Blue Tub).
