Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Todd Lehman
(...) My guess, FWIW, is that TLC is still reticent to admit that the products they sell actually appeal to very, very wide age ranges. IOW, if they'd marked it "from 11 years," then they'd be admitting that what 11-year-olds play with is also what (...) (25 years ago, 10-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Eric Kingsley
(...) I definitly think the new "Ultimate Collectors Series" sets are marketed almost directly to adults. For one, looking at all the pieces in these models my guess is that these models are probably going to go for $100+ each. I hope I am wrong (...)          Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Mike Stanley
(...) I'm the farthest thing from a Star Wars expert, but just from my memory of seeing the movies a couple of times, if the Collector's X-Wing is the same size or a little bigger than the current toy model, wouldn't that make the Falcon something (...)          Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Kya Morden
(...) It'd be fine with me, though I still think that even if it's about the same size as the X-Wing and if my guestimates are correct, that would still be a pretty huge MF parts-wise (bad english) so I would probably put it in the $300 price range.          Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Shaun Sullivan
(...) model-team MF is, as long as it fulfills a couple of criteria: (1) The scale must be absolutely self-consistent -i.e., no Kenner-esque huge cockpit and fat midsection (2) The detail should be intricate and as accururate to Canon as possible.          Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —James Simpson
(...) I wouldn't be willing to pay the kind of money that a large-scale limited edition model would go for...however, I'd love a small-scale, highly detailed Model-Team(ish) Falcon. I'm not so much concerned with size as with reasonable accuracy to (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Tom Stangl
I think they could sell a TON of a large scale MF if they did it right - release it as 6-10 subsets, and if you buy them all, it builds the whole thing. 1 - cockpit 2 - laser cannons with cockpits 3 - entrance ramp/nose 4 - chess table/room 5 - (...)         Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Scott Symer
(...) My guess is that it has something to do with how they expect the set to be used: this probably isn't the kind of model a young kid can 'whoosh' around a lot with in the living room - it's pretty clear they're thinking this is going to be (...)         Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Steve Bliss
(...) You might be on to something, there. But it could also be that the sets are rated 16+ because TLG didn't want to say "These sets are for adults". It seems obvious the display stands and placards are there to appeal to older builders, to make (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —James Brown
(...) I was wondering that too, and then a really horrible thought occured to me: What if these sets come with a tube of glue? James (URL) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Kya Morden
(...) Well, theoretically, you could throw about four or five of those 2x4x6/8? weight bricks that came with some of the floatable boats to act as a counterbalance in the base of that stand. As for keeping the thing actually on the stand, I guess (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Jamie Hickey
(...) Well I am 23, fell like I am much older! Working full-time at Meijers, part-time at Mobile Medical Respose as an EMT and being a volenteer firefighter, plus still going to school! But I always make time to play with LEGOs!!!!! (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Jonathan Little
(...) I may be stating the obvious here, because most other people that read these posts have a much keener eye to detail than I do, but has anyone noticed that the bases of the stands are actually buit from normal sloped lego pieces. It appears (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)
