Re: New Skin Tones coming? (was: Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog)

(...) I question the need to "enhance" the realism. The Lego world is its *own* very special and unique realism. Changing the minifigs to be more like exact models of the real world rather than abstract (and well-recognized!) representations is a (...) (...) Todd - PDX is just around the corner - how about lets find some time to circle up with people who are interested at the fest and discuss the prospects? -Tim (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)

(...) Hey, please, if stuff needs saying, just come out and say it. (...) Tim, although I can't offer development services, please don't hesitate to give me a call and bounce ideas off me, etc. --Todd (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Transport to Moonbase PDX now available via New Seattle

(...) We have our first arrival- the good Professor has been spotted in New Seattle! He hasn't yet hooked up with the sigfig participation facilitator, AndroDan, but he's there.   Re: WorldLUG into public domain

(...) True, but that shouldn't hinder other projects aiming to do the same. If something can be done better elsewhere, or done at all elsewhere, it's a win for the whole community. (...) Paul, I support you in this and please let me know if there's anything I can do to help nurture discussions. --Todd (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: WorldLUG into public domain

(...) I have a lot. This was in development for about 2 years, but none of us had the time to dedicate to it. Some $$$ would've helped, which was why we talked to TLC, but they didn't want to get into a standards/site war, which was probably pretty (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: WorldLUG into public domain

(...) Community involvement is the key. I posted all this because I don't really care who picks up the ball: Lugnet or whomever. I'm happy to help out, too. But the ideas and intentions are sound community policy. -paul (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Duplo-name confirmed to be reborne

From Lego: (URL) Company is positive about its pre-school business with plans to introduce twelve new DUPLO products this year and the launch of the new QUATRO brick.   Re: WorldLUG into public domain

Hi Paul, thanks for sharing your ideas and thoughts about a future "umbrella" covering all the community ressources available on the web these days. Some times ago I had a similar discussion with Jake form LEGO Direct. I want to highlight two (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: WorldLUG into public domain

While I was trying to say it nicely, Troy I commend you for cutting to the chase and saying what needed to be said in public. I agree 100% with your post. That said, I hope people are interested in discussing this topic of integrating resources, and (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Fast-paced photo montage (13,000 photos in 9 minutes)

(...) I put the movie on a CD and played it in my DVD player at 1/16th speed. Aside from the occasional orientation problem, it was a really nice way to view to movie. Excellent pics, Todd.   Re: New Skin Tones coming? (was: Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog)

(...) My point was that at a time when TLC has already made a lot of costly and pointless changes, they shouldn't make any more. The minifig is one of the most recognizable and beloved LEGO products of the last quarter-century. Putting feet on it (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Fwd from a builder: Colors don't match, among other things!

(...) (snip) (...) I wasn't sure when I wrote that (TLG just put DUPLO stickers on EXPLORE boxes as a temporary clarification), but now it turns out to be very clear, with DUPLO and QUATTRO now officially (re)launched. Eric Brok (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)

  Duplo-name confirmed to be reborne

TLC has confirmed, that the name DUPLO is to be re-launched for pre-school bricks. The change from DUPLO to Lego Explore has costed the company about a billion Danish Kroner. The article (in Danish!): (URL) Copenhagen (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.duplo) !!

Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog

(...) This is *very* peculiar. In the Danish catalog the Spider Man and HP figs clearly show 'natural' skin tones. This was already hinted on by TLC, so it's very unlikely to be a printing or lighting glitch. But the new dutch catalog which the (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog

Re: New Skin Tones coming? (was: Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog)

(...) I've had mixed feelings about this, but now I am prepared to welcome the changes. While I love yellow minifigs, I believe having the chance to see skin-toned figures will enhance the realism of the LEGO line. -Tim (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)
