Re: Fwd from a builder: Colors don't match, among other things!

(...) (snip) (...) I wasn't sure when I wrote that (TLG just put DUPLO stickers on EXPLORE boxes as a temporary clarification), but now it turns out to be very clear, with DUPLO and QUATTRO now officially (re)launched. Eric Brok (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)

  Duplo-name confirmed to be reborne

TLC has confirmed, that the name DUPLO is to be re-launched for pre-school bricks. The change from DUPLO to Lego Explore has costed the company about a billion Danish Kroner. The article (in Danish!): (URL) Copenhagen (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.duplo) !!

Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog

(...) This is *very* peculiar. In the Danish catalog the Spider Man and HP figs clearly show 'natural' skin tones. This was already hinted on by TLC, so it's very unlikely to be a printing or lighting glitch. But the new dutch catalog which the (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog

(...) I disagree. I think it's standard yellow and blame the different hue on clever lighting when the photo was taken. Christian (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: New Skin Tones coming? (was: Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog)

(...) I've had mixed feelings about this, but now I am prepared to welcome the changes. While I love yellow minifigs, I believe having the chance to see skin-toned figures will enhance the realism of the LEGO line. -Tim (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: WorldLUG into public domain

(...) While this may be the "ideal" scenerio, it is also the one that is least likely to happen. Todd and Suz have done a great thing here with Lugnet. Lets keep in mind, however, that Lugnet was SUPPOSED to be the all-encompasing site for Lego fans (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX) !

Re: New Skin Tones coming? (was: Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog)

(...) Minifigs are one of the huge appeal of Lego, at least to people from my generation. (The first sets I had had the armless variety.) Mucking with that doesn't seem like a great idea to me either. (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: New Skin Tones coming? (was: Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog)

(...) I think he's saying that if you want fleshtoned figures that have some of the other features you ask for, maybe Playmobil may suit your needs better. I'm not sure I agree. but I am also not sure I think that changing from yellow to fleshtones (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: New Skin Tones coming? (was: Re: Scans from new danish 2004 catalog)

(...) What is your point? That because Playmobil uses flesh tones TLC shouldn't? I'm sorry but I don't get your drift. JOHN (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: WorldLUG into public domain

(...) LUGNET leaves a lot to be desired as a single point of entry, I think. It's confusing to navigate - especially for newbies, and doesn't do a good job of linking out to other sites from obvious places - ie guide.lugnet.com/shop doesn't even (...)   Re: WorldLUG into public domain

(...) Hmm, I don't know, guys. I see a lot of the above mission either already being taken care of by LUGNET, or being something that LUGNET could grow into. However, I do love the idea of a single point of entry for newbies...Eight or ten years ago (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: WorldLUG into public domain

(...) This sounds pretty interesting. You mention that a lot of it is coded - do you have a description of what's already created, such as specifications, proof of concept code, features, programming language(s) used, etc.? I'd like to follow this, (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: WorldLUG into public domain

(...) I agree with Jon here. LUGNET is a good thing, it allows us to discuss serious aspects of our hobby with other like-minded folks, but its time to start looking ahead to integrating all of the wonderful community resources out there in a (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: WorldLUG into public domain

(...) (snip) Bearing in mind that I adore LUGNET, I think this post and this way of thinking is extremely important for the future of our community. All developers within ear shot should think about it. I'm barely a graphic designer but I would (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: Source for mini-lights (modding!)

(...) Yes, thank you for the link - I have a Lee Valley near my house and will definitely be buying a bunch of these for my space and castle creations. Regards, Nick M. Gill (22 years ago, 1-Feb-04, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.general, FTX)

  WorldLUG into public domain

howD all, a couple of things have precipitated this post: 1) my domain name of WorldLUG is expiring soon 2) due to my being in graduate school I will have no time to implement WorldLUG 3) I believe in cooperation over competition and open-access (...)   Re: Source for mini-lights (modding!)

(...) Purists, shmurists. Man, those are very cool. I'm going to order bunches at that price. And nice burn time. More than enough for many shows. They will look great in my moonbase modules and space monorail station. Thanks very much for the link. (...) (22 years ago, 1-Feb-04, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.general, FTX)

  off-topic test
