Re: 3 more 1999 catalog pix...

(...) Looks like town junior to me too, looks like studs in the door opening. Hey at least it has a normal roof. Looks like maybe all it needs is some car doors and maybe some fenders. At least it will be good for parts, except 14.25 is a bit much. (...) (26 years ago, 5-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Met a LEGO rep...

(...) I make more than any 10 eight year olds, sure. But those 10 kids have 10 sets of parents who probably make more than I do, and larger extended families that, combined, certainly make more than I do. I probably spent at least $3k, possibly much (...) (26 years ago, 5-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: 3 more 1999 catalog pix...

(...) Hate to be a downer, but unless the pic of the train set is just too small and blurry for me to make out details it looks suspiciously like what I would consider Train Jr. Anyone else blown it up or seen a better pic? (26 years ago, 5-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: 1999 comments

Ninja addendum: I just noticed there appears to be a figure pack (right side of first Ninja page). Can't make out much, though. I thought at first it was the existing small set with three figures, but it has the "1999" graphic next to it. Kevin (26 years ago, 5-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

(Once again, scans are at: (URL) nothing new classic-wise, except the Snowspeeder wings are angled down here-- perhaps hinged? Looks much nicer, and includes a ground cannon. The sneak preview of the fighter craft from the new movie is VERY slick (...) (26 years ago, 5-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Contest Ideas?

(...) Not having actual prizes would help minimize the impulse of someone to cheat. I like to think the people here are mature enough to not have to stoop to such stupid things anyway. I believe there are ways to check email origins to filter out (...) (26 years ago, 5-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: 3 more 1999 catalog pix...

(...) Johnny's still at it -- 5 more are up -- same URL. --Todd p.s. He said he might head over to Kinko's to do some scanning. (26 years ago, 5-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

(...) Todd -- I'm curious why you didn't crosspost this to .announce, as well. First place I went. I only stumbled across this very hot reference because .robotics was timing out and I was using .general as a "refresh" choice. No biggie, just (...) (26 years ago, 5-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  1999 sets: Orlando report

I just phone ordered from Orlando. S@H doesn't appear to have anything in stock yet, though in their case I had to give them specific numbers for them to check, whereas at Orlando they knew what new stuff had just come in. Orlando LEGO Imagination (...) (26 years ago, 5-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: "1999 sets are out" message on RTL

That cover is so cool!!!!!! We've got tons and tons of disk space and have an area set aside for 1999 catalog stuff, so if anyone wants to upload more scans to: ftp://ftp.lugnet.com/incoming/ go right ahead! --Todd p.s. Are those BURPs we see on (...) (26 years ago, 5-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: "1999 sets are out" message on RTL

(...) Looks legit; it includes a scan of the catalog cover, with a SW theme (Vader TIE chasing an X-Wing... very classic image, plus very classy appearance as the design is very uncluttered). Here's the text of the message itself. Kevin ---...--- (...) (26 years ago, 4-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Met a LEGO rep...

(...) I would hope that they conduct a focus group for a $1Billion company. If they didn't, they would lose touch to what kids want real quick. (...) Unfortunately, could this be the 'Dumbening Down' of Lego? Hopefully not. Though my interests lie (...) (26 years ago, 4-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

"1999 sets are out" message on RTL

... but it's in binary and I cannot read it. It sits there and mocks me. Perhaps it's the read deal though... I guess we'll have to get the initial rush under control and see what happens. I've e-mailed the author asking to repost it in non-binary (...) (26 years ago, 4-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Met a LEGO rep...

Hmmm ... I would think that our (small) segment of the market brings in more dollars per person that kids do ... we have jobs. :) Also, I would say that our purchases are larger sets or higher volume on small sets. Also, on the same thought ... I (...) (26 years ago, 4-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)
