Re: LEGO 6286 PIRATE MISB started an auction

(...) Chris have we convinced you to go forth with the event even if we can't get enough interest up to justify paying to bring Steve Jackson in?   BrikWars battle pics from 3-3-01

Greetings fellow BrikWars enthusiasts! I have posted on brickshelf the raw images from the TL2 Brikwars battle between myself and Gino Melone, fought on March 3, 2001. I haven't yet had a change to do the writeup, but when I do, it'll appear on (...) (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.loc.us.oh.cle, lugnet.gaming)

Re: Weekend of LEGO Pirate Games!

(...) Yea, I plan on putting boat skids on all my ships. Even on carpet, they will help (I had actually planned to do it for Brickfest 2000). (...) Ooh, please do. I'd love a chance to meet some of you folks. Frank (24 years ago, 8-Mar-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Weekend of LEGO Pirate Games!

(...) Yup, I picked up about 12 more cannons + a 6268 + about 40-50 pirate minifigs. Also got about 10 other assorted pirate sets + some Blue Soldier figs, ooh and some cutter bow bricks + plates so I can build a few more class 1 / 2 ships. Steve (24 years ago, 7-Mar-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Weekend of LEGO Pirate Games!

(...) It was great fun, and Steve and I snagged loads of Pirate stuff! (We even split a few lots--I'm full of shako hats and flags now, including loads of solid-white and solid-red (gunport cover) flags! Epaulettes? Oh my, yes! (...) That's a good (...) (24 years ago, 7-Mar-01, to lugnet.gaming)

(...) Sorry, been out of it for about a week. IIRC, there's thin carpet. Color is unknown. I'll look Thursday and get back to us. Chris (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Weekend of LEGO Pirate Games!

I was thinking of building some of the larger islands out of yellow/green plates 'n bricks, mounted on 32x32 blue baseboards (must build R'lyeh). I already have a few of the smaller island baseplates and I'm hoping to pick up some pirate stuff at (...) (24 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Weekend of LEGO Pirate Games!

(...) Yea, it would be nice to have less square islands, though it really doesn't affect the game that much. I do like the Belville base bricks for the reason that the islands do look a little less square. Frank (24 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Weekend of LEGO Pirate Games!

(...) The only downside, IMHO, is that so many of our islands were, well, square. Granted, this is hard to avoid, but I'm going to try and put together some more organic-shaped islands. (...) Ack. I think they posted the URL in .wamalug...but I (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Weekend of LEGO Pirate Games!

(...) The available space, compared with how much open sailing you want really determines how many and how big the islands are. When we played at Brickfest, we had 4 islands in the 32x32 or bigger real (plus several ports at the edge of the game (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Weekend of LEGO Pirate Games!

(...) Ideally you use actual island baseplates. Granted, this may be difficult or impossible nowadays--but I remember we had islands of all sizes, some 16x16, some 16x32, some 32x32. It is, as always, governed by what you want to be on the island. (...) (24 years ago, 24-Feb-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Weekend of LEGO Pirate Games!

How big do you guys make your islands? I'm looking at using 32x32 baseplates for a game I'll be running for the UK student wargaming nationals. Steve (24 years ago, 24-Feb-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Weekend of LEGO Pirate Games!

(...) I'm hoping we will have a significant core of dedicated pirateheads so the game will keep flowing. We will probably have to have some set times where players who haven't played before can start (though asking them to watch the game for a few (...) (24 years ago, 22-Feb-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Lego game in "Chief Herman's Holiday Fun Pack"
