Not to be at all antagonistic, but out of curiosity, could someone explain
to me the fetish so many people seem to have for the Blacktron guy? I don't
get it. Isn't he just a retread of the classic space guy in black,
replacing the cool logo with what has always struck me as a rather dull
torso print? What's to love?
Compare that with such groundbreaking minifigs as Majisto with his 3-D
beard, Redbeard with his stately pirate hat, hook-for-hand *and* pegleg, the
ever-tantilizing anatomically-suggestive Forestwoman, and the revolutionary
ghost and skeleton figures.
I can certainly see voting for the Classic Space guy. When first released,
he was a giant leap forward for minifigkind, but Blacktron always struck me
as a merely a small step.
And while I'm at it, can someone fill me in on the history behind Mary and Bill?
Thanks!
-The Rev. Brendan Powell Smith
