At this point I don't remember where "1138" appears in all the various movies
it crops up in, but "THX-1138" was Lucas' first movie. He made it twice, once
as a student project for college and once as a feature film. The letters and
numbers show up all over the place (such as the THX sound system, etc). They
even show up in the Indiana Jones movies/books/TV show, and in plenty of other
Lucas-related stuff.
Oooo! Yeah, "1138" is on the back of a Battle Droid in Episode I, for example.
