Re: Temporary outage of FAQ work

(...) I'm not sure that I should post the HTML to the newsgroup; the HTML I generate is around 300 KB. And, it would look pretty ugly, reading an HTML document in a news reader. I've run it through Lynx; the resulting text is around 240 KB. And, (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jul-99, to lugnet.faq)

(...) Cool, okay. Can you take a look at message (URL) and thump me into the right direction? Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 12-Jul-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Temporary outage of FAQ work

(...) I personally (huh huh :-) want to read the FAQ (huh-huh huh, he said -- oh never mind) because FAQ's always contain lots of useful bits of information that I didn't know and wouldn't have even thought to ask. I will probably also start (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jul-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Temporary outage of FAQ work

(...) Oops, that's 202 FAQ items, 108 with answers. I was including the charter items in that count. I figure what the hell, I'll sluff work today and script the beast that will post all 202 items into lugnet.faq . Actual posting won't happen (...)   Re: Temporary outage of FAQ work

(...) (1) -----^^^...^^^ (...) Do you want the 293 files that make up the FAQ, or the ZIP file, or the HTML I generated? If I post the HTML, no FAQ writers can really benefit; I can't post the ZIP file; I don't want to post 293 FAQ items, not even (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jul-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Temporary outage of FAQ work

Well then just post it in a message here. If you just sit on the file no-one can benefit from it. What's the point of that> (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jul-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Temporary outage of FAQ work

(...) Um... Good question. It's been removed due to Yahoo!-related panic, and will never again be posted on Geocities hardware. I could e-mail you a copy, but I choose to not start giving personlay requests as I've been inundated by them before. I'm (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jul-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Cracking down on unauthorized image links

(...) Not me personally, no, but this IS the internet, if someone's doing it, someone else almost certainly is as well. Heck... a quick yahoo search using auction and image yielded a few. I have not examined these at all. (URL) Larry Pieniazek (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.faq)

Re: Cracking down on unauthorized image links

(...) I think it would be -- in the lugnet.admin.general area, tied in to the whole image piracy thing? Hmmm... The issue *is* "official" LUGNET policy, and may be asked more than once. I'll file this one away for reference when I can get back into (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.faq)

Re: Cracking down on unauthorized image links

I had been claiming that there were sites set up explicitly to serve images up for auctions. Well, the "rarest lego ever seen" listing on Ebay uses one. (URL) they're out there. Hope that's of some use. Perhaps this is a FAQ? maybe not. (25 years ago, 17-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.faq)

  Re: LDraw FAQ Questions

(...) Ok, thanks. I have been working with Jacob on ldraw.org and also on the FAQ, so he is obviously in charge of that area of the site. I'll take a look at the lugnet faq items.. -Tim Courtney ldraw.org Project Coordinator (URL) timcourtne ICQ: (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jun-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: LDraw FAQ Questions

(...) I agree completely. Tim, Jacob (1) is doing a great job re-editing the LDraw FAQ items to the LUGNET format, just for this reason. The LUGNET FAQ items collected so far can still be found at: (URL) FAQ items in any category are more than (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jun-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Suggestion for LDraw FAQ

(...) At times yes. (...) Correct. Anyways, ldraw.org will be displaying whatever FAQ content the group churns out relating to ldraw (the ldraw faq). -Tim Courtney ldraw.org Project Coordinator (URL) timcourtne ICQ: 23951114 (25 years ago, 15-Jun-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Suggestion for LDraw FAQ

(...) A little informality can be a good thing. The 'Mailing List' question needs to be rewritten anyway, since L-CAD/lugnet.cad.dev is really a newsgroup, not a mailing list. Well, it's both, but it's more effective as a newsgroup (IMO). Steve (25 years ago, 15-Jun-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: LDraw FAQ Questions

(...) Can you tie it into the FAQ facility planned for Lugnet? There's no reason to reinvent the wheel on this. Steve (25 years ago, 15-Jun-99, to lugnet.faq)

  LDraw FAQ Questions

I have been looking at the LDraw FAQ and making a couple templates for its implimentation on ldraw.org. I would like to suggest that some of the questions be modified to look, feel, and sound more professional and official. Here is my list of (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jun-99, to lugnet.faq)
