Call for Participation in the Train Model Contest at BrickFest™ 2003
BrickFest™ has traditionally had a number of different model contests. While the
overall contests (if any) have yet to be determined, well be holding a model
contest this year focusing on the train theme. Entry of a model into the Train
model contest should not preclude its entry into the overall contest (if any).
We are actively soliciting for modelers to submit their work. We anticipate
models will be displayed in 250 (the clinic/work session room, which is across
the back hall from 251, see last years floor plan ) and will probably be around the edge, although they certainly
could be displayed on the public layout (more about that in a separate section),
or in 251, space permitting. There will be a number of categories (driven by the
anticipated number of entries and available prizes) but we anticipate at least
the following categories:
- best overall (a public vote will be included in this, percentage TBD, if practical)
- best rolling stock
- best structure or accessory
- best overall scene
We would appreciate learning of your interest and intent to enter a model in
advance but preregistration is not required to participate. All models will need
to have an information form filled out which will be kept by them. We will
either provide these or use the standard BF MOC card if one is made available in
time. Model entries must be submitted by 5 PM Saturday to be eligible for
judging although late entries can certainly be displayed.
Judges
We need a few dedicated judges. The work is not too demanding but does take some
significant time as you owe it to the entrants to give a good and fair
evaluation. We would like to hold judging Saturday after the deadline. If you
are interested in being a judge please contact me directly. Decisions about
judges will be made by the ILTCO™ organizing committee and will be held in
confidence, until the judging commences.
Contest Prizes
As mentioned, there will be at least 4 prizes awarded. We are actively
soliciting donations of prizes, so if you have an item that you think would make
an interesting prize, please contact us. We will credit all donors who wish
credit and who can confirm donation of a prize by 23 July.
(Note: This is one of a series of posts about the Train Activities at BrickFest™
2003, brought to you by ILTCO, see this events.brickfest post for introductory remarks)
