Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

(...) Which may be precisely the reason they chose not to say so. They knew the item was in demand. They knew they could only make a limited number. They wanted as many people to get in on it as possible. So, they didn't mention the limited number, (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  My Thoughts on BrickFest 2002

Well, now that I'm feeling a little more rested (after spending a day at work struggling to stay awake), I thought I'd share my thoughts: - I really appreciated the airport pickup. Everything went smoothly (including watching TJ Avery hauling my big (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: Photos of Lindsay Braun's giant cruiser at BrickFest

(...) I have enough space to have posted one of my photos of the cruiser (named Takao, not "giant damn ship" as some have speculated ;) ) at: (URL) I also have a photo of its "current state," meaning, the only way it will fit on the two 30x60 tables (...)   Re: My random thoughts and comments on Brickfest 2002

(...) You could also throw in other competitions like the International System Creativity Contest over at 1000Steine.de or the Classic Space/Blacktron/Iceplanet contests here. There was a big Star Wars contest a while back. Lots of smaller contests (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: My random thoughts and comments on Brickfest 2002

(...) I actually rather like Scott's idea. The problem with implementation, of course, is that the "master class" wouldn't be especially large now given that this was only our second year with a major, formal slate of awards--and if you give people (...)   Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

(...) I have to agree big time here. I only ever got one pack. I was planing on ordering at least a dozen more IF TLC ever decides to offer the only bulk pack I NEED.   Re: Pictures are up

  Re: Pictures are up

(...) Just to quickly answer, it was never really formally announced, but it's been under construction for the last 6-8 months or so, and semi-intentionally made its debut at BrickFest 2002.   Build Room (K8)

I'd like to point out that the build room (K8) was running out of display space toward the end. That's a measure of success. I took lots of pictures, watch for them. There were a couple ideas tossed out for Build Room Activities next year. Mostly (...) (22 years ago, 22-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Animation at BrickFest (and Beyond...)

It’s been really interesting to observe (and be part of) the growing interest in LEGO-based animation over the last couple of years. At the time of the first BrickFest, Thomas Foote and I were the only exhibiting animators. Beyond the two of us I (...)   My random thoughts and comments on Brickfest 2002

To all of Brickfest attendees and organizers, I had a great time! While this was my first time attending, I do know what it's like to organize these events, and how difficult it can be. Sure, there are always some complaints, but we all know how (...) (22 years ago, 22-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

(...) However, one could reasonably interpret "no new molds" as "no newly designed molds" rather than "no newly manufactured molds".   My scattered thank-you's
