I'd like to point out that the build room (K8) was running out of display
space toward the end. That's a measure of success. I took lots of pictures,
watch for them.

There were a couple ideas tossed out for Build Room Activities next year.
Mostly about posting a germ of an idea for people to work out in different
ways. For example, Judy Miller wondered what the "Chicken House" would
become if it was a Space model or other themes. (This was a Baba Yaga type
hut on legs in the Display room 250.) Imagine the glee with which visitors
might take up such a challenge...

(If you recall, last year the build room got a Galaxy Enforcer entry. That's
the spirit.)

On Sunday, someone plowed neat trails throughout the entire pile. Just goes
to show that building is not the only activity.

I made the room my "home base" this year in the way some frequent a theme room.

More ideas:

Put on an Idea Book display in the build room. That way people can go "Oh
wow! That brick animal is so cute!" and build one right away.

Scavenger hunt: a score sheet with boxes for things like: how many colors of
1x1s can you find, find a piece from the 70s, lots of easy questions for
kids (find a green 2x2, find a technic piece, find a minifig, find a monkey arm)

Bridge building (probably too geeky)

Group project like a huge mosaic where each contributor works on a square

Sculpture activities: maybe a contest, maybe a how-to session, maybe some
hands-on getting started tips... it's appropriate to a basic brick theme and
there's no shortage of those.

Nuther group project like build-a-town. There were quite a few kids in the
build room and some of them made stores and such. If there are even more
kids next year this could be a low table where the finished contributions
go, with a road layout they make up.

At any rate I think the room was still pretty healthy with no organized
activities (other than "put yer stuff on the tables when done"). Voting was
the area that needed more organization on Sunday (Stephen took care of this.)

By the way, who cleaned up in there? I feel bad about not helping with that.
