Hi Tonya -
Thanks for the reply! I'm interested in learning more about your programs.
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to pay much attention right now. Later
this year I will be exploring LDraw in the classroom in greater depth. I've
gotten some good feedback so far from people, especially in a good
conversation with some teachers and First LEGO League organizers at LEGOLAND
California this past weekend.

Once my own book project, Virtual LEGO, winds down (and then I'll have more
time), I'll be sure to check out the 10 Cool series, as well as Syngress'
LEGO Software Powertools (which I'm isolating myself from now, since my book
is on the same topic).

I'm not a MINDSTORMS guy myself, though I've got a great appreciation for it
and see its value in the classroom. I'd love to work with educators in the
future and get their feedback on how the LDraw tools can better fit the
classroom.

Please send me more information on your summer camp when you get a chance.
Thanks!

-Tim

Hi Tim,

I teach robotics in the classroom in the college of education at Wichita
State University.  I think LDraw tools are very good for kids to use and
also a great tool for teachers to create instructions for their students.
My 12 year old son, Alex, and I wrote a few chapters in two of Syngress' 10
Cool Lego Mindstorms Books.  Alex designed and drew all of the robots we
submitted.

WSU has just launched their annual robotics competition for 4th - 8th grade
students and many of the teams are working on documenting their robotic
inventions using MLCAD.  I plan to include Lego CAD in a summer workshop for
teachers and summer camp for kids that WSU sponsors this summer.  I will
also teach a workshop on Lego Cad in the fall.
