Why the early end to 10040 Black Seas Barracuda? —Christopher Wiggenhorn
I just noticed tonight that the 10040 is listed as sold out (as opposed to being on back order, which would give me a ray of hope). It was my understanding that Legends were intended to be long-running releases (see (URL) Based on (URL) and (URL) it (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.pirates)

Re: Why the early end to 10040 Black Seas Barracuda? —Bill Vollbrecht
(...) I would guess the main reason would be it isn't selling! No matter how desired a product once was, eventually the sales peter out (Hogwarts Castle for historical reference). Add to that the color change, they would have to produce all of the (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.pirates)

Re: Why the early end to 10040 Black Seas Barracuda? —Tim Courtney
(...) At least for the store I work in, that would be false. We have a waiting list of about 30 people for the Barracuda, and only rumors whether it is on order or discontinued. -Tim (21 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.pirates)

Re: Why the early end to 10040 Black Seas Barracuda? —Tanvir Mahtab
(...) I must disagree with the opinion that it isn't selling. I was planning to buy another copy myself near the end of last year, when suddenly one day it said "sold out." So I emailed lego direct asking whether it would come back and they said no, (...) (21 years ago, 17-Mar-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.pirates)

Re: Why the early end to 10040 Black Seas Barracuda? —Ray Sanders
(...) That rather sums it up nicely. Were the reasons for the color change so compelling so as to elliminate the posibility of making future Legends sets which truly represented the original ? Personally I'm still waiting to see/hear reasons that (...) (21 years ago, 17-Mar-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.pirates)

Re: Why the early end to 10040 Black Seas Barracuda? —Thomas Garrison
(...) Actually, I suspect that a product that *is* selling would have a shorter availability. My understanding (from reading the press release about how well Hogwarts Castle did) is that it is unusual for sets to go through multiple production runs. (...)          The Pirate Game - Help —Chris Yoder
I want to start playing The Pirate Game, but my ship options are limited. I have one Black Seas Barracuda (needs rebuiding) and one small spanish ship. I have hulls to make another couple ships. So, for a small game, what kind of ship should I (...) (20 years ago, 24-Mar-04, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: The Pirate Game - Help —Marc Nelson, Jr.
(...) You would be best to start with a few cutters, which have one cannon and a small crew. The prototypical cutter is the one found in (URL) 6277>, but you can make your own.          Re: The Pirate Game - Help —Bruce Schlickbernd
(...) It depends on whether you are going to play it as an adventure/role-playing game, or a fleet battle game. For the former, starting with one-gun "cutters" (see previous suggestions) is probably the best way to go. Real pirates usually had (...) (20 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) I'll follow up my own post and also express my amazement that 10000 Guarded Inn and 10039 Black Falcon's Fortress sold out sometime in the last couple of days. At least the Guarded Inn re-release has been out for a bit longer. I suppose this (...) (21 years ago, 18-Mar-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.castle)
