Hmm....I would much prefer Set 6970 as a "Legends". But, the question does beg
to be asked: Did Lego sign away their space ships in place of the Star Wars
licensing? And if so, why? It's not like the Classic Lego ships even REMOTELY
resemble anything that the Star Wars line has produced. What's the story?

LEGO has said (through the voice of Brad Justus) that there is no contractual restriction in the Star Wars license; it's just good marketing sense to not detract from the Star Wars market share by introducing competing sets. Lets face some facts: 1.we cant get classic space helmets and 2.TLC/LD isnt going to be dumb enough to do classic space with new figs and/or new-type helments (it would look ugly, I tried to put some futuron figs in my Walking Astro Grappeler and it (...) (22 years ago, 17-Dec-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.dear-lego)
