Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

(...) According to rumor, there were trademark issues with the "Indy Storm" name, so they just decided to pull the entire model. Quite a shame! (24 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

(...) Wow hold on a minute! Just because 8457 and 8458 are released does not means 8448 is gone right away. 8445 was gone pretty quick though. I wonder if we will ever see a technic catalogue like the one in 1996... (24 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: New theme suggestion - Roman Era

(...) Thinking this over, I have to admit that though Britain seems like a different sort of situation, I'm not versed enough to make generalizations. There are the facts: Caesar turned his back on Britain as if he didn't WANT to conquer it after (...) (24 years ago, 12-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.castle)

Re: New theme suggestion - Roman Era

(...) Gosh, Rome fought nearly everyone after Hannibal. Gauls, Germans, Dacians (an excuse for Trajan's Column in Lego), Sarmatians, Macedonians/Greeks, various eastern Alexandrian Successor states (including Ptolemeic Egypt and the last of his (...) (24 years ago, 10-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: New theme suggestion - Roman Era

(...) Hey! Instead of doing regional-related sets, they could continue with the movie / book tie - ins! The _Ben Hur_ chariot races... ... _Gladiator_ gladiatorial scenes and triumphal marches ... ... _Horatio at the Bridge_ collectors' edition set (...)   Re: New theme suggestion - Roman Era

Well I'll say this much: i'm not a sharp historian, in fact my history of Rome only goes so far as reading the Penguin History of the world. But Everytime i see any thing roman related, and then when i see lego minifigs, Roman soldiers immediately (...) (24 years ago, 10-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.castle)

  Re: Tiger Prediction

Attn: Lugnet Readers Lego Futura Lego Direct Mr Brad Justus. Dear Sirs, I fully suppourt the suggestion of a minfing zoo for lego(R) Town in a recent Lugnet posting.   Re: New theme suggestion - Roman Era

Hi Lindsay... Hi Santosh... Lego is not going to do this for us. We must do it ourselves. But it's fun to speculate (or is that to design?) (...) If somehow Lego were to go and do Roman for a castle theme, we would probably get a make-believe (...) (24 years ago, 10-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.castle)

Re: New theme suggestion - Roman Era

(...) Which part of the Roman Empire? The Hellenistic portion, or Gaul/Scandia/Britannia? I'd love to see the theme move about from Greece to Egypt to the Levant--although, you know, the Punic Wars would be great too. Did Rome really have an (...) (24 years ago, 9-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Missing Sets...

Im just wondering...What are sets 8516-8519 going to be? THey will be throwbots of course, but where adn what are they? In addition, when can we expect them? Anyone have any info? (24 years ago, 9-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: TLG Does Listen to us. (if not officaly)

(...) Mea culpa. I merely meant that the movie stink, stank, stunk... I am no big SW fan. I don't think Lucas can write his way out of a paper bag. Most of his peculiar genius is mere marketing, as is often the case. He is the P.T Barnum of special (...) (24 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Put the issue to bed (was: who's feelin the black pack?)

(...) And this is the problem with licensing movies, books, etc. If the main character is to be "acurately" represented, there must be "colored" minifigs. This has not been done with Star Wars to date. Luke Skywalker (as seen in the movies) is not (...) (24 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: TLG Does Listen to us. (if not officaly)

(...) Let's not forget that licensing brought us the Star Wars models, with old-school design values we haddn't seen in years. If licensing one or two lines also forces them to create some acceptable designs, then that is a good thing. Of course we (...) (24 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Wait a minute! (...) Arctic is just like Rock Raiders, divers, etc. They make 'em, advertise, sell 'em, and dump 'em. They don't even bother to make new sets! (...) Key word, opinion.
