 Dear LEGO / 1052
Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Tim Coats
I have a good idea for Lego if they rerelease Imperial Soldiers at some point. Print on different colored torsos, red guards on red torsos, blue guards on blue torsos. This would make the distinction between the classic ones and the new ones (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Scott Edward Sanburn
(...) Yo Timbo! (As taken from the current James Bond themes, Yo Jimbo!) Revive? Did they ever produce them in the first place? Scott S. (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Franklin W. Cain
(...) I think he's talking about the Imperial Soldiers (Redcoats and Bluecoats) in the old Lego Pirates theme. Based on the minifigs in my possession, by comparing the print jobs on White-Torso minifigs to the print jobs on (Other)-Torso minifigs, (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Mike Stanley
(...) Ah, who cares about preserving the value of older sets for collectors? I think you could make the argument that blue or red torsos would be better or cooler, but I for one wouldn't give a flying rodent's behind about the effect revising older (...)         Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —James Brown
(...) Ditto for 6067. But not 6071. I can't see myself buying more than about 20. :) I agree - I'd guess that the vast majority of AFOL's go for parts, not profit. James (URL) (25 years ago, 23-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Frank Filz
(...) Hear Hear... There is about zero reason for TLC to preserve the collectible value of older sets. Except for a small handfull of "limited edition" sets, TLC has never presented their sets as collectors items. (25 years ago, 5-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Jasper Janssen
(...) Wizards of the Coast has never really had any reason to preserve "value" of old OOP trading cards. Yet do you really think it'd be a good business idea to rerelease all the powerhouse cards? Jasper (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Matthew Miller
(...) Oooh, it's been a long time since I've played that game. But, weren't most of the out-of-print powerful cards removed because of being broken in some way or another? That's not a problem with lego sets, is it? (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Jonathan Wilson
(...) Broken? Do you mean that there were problems with the powerfull cards in the first place so they were never re-released? -- Jonathan Wilson wilsonj@xoommail.com (URL) (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Matthew Miller
(...) Definitely. Again, it's been a while, but if I remember right, tournament rules only allow cards of the most current two revisions. This allows them to slowly fix mistakes they made in the past. (Of course, people playing on their own love to (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Larry Pieniazek
(...) ?? !! cf. Town Junior. To an AFOL, that's broken, no? Would that it were out of print. (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Matthew Miller
(...) :) Broken in a different way: they're Way Too Powerful. I can't think of a good lego analogy. (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Jasper Janssen
(...) Yes. There are ways around allowing them in tournaments, see that collection they did a while ago. Contained long OOP Arabian Nights cards, among others (all whitebordered this time 'round), which weren't reintroduced to tournament play. I (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Jonathan Wilson
(...) It is the same with magic the gathering cards. I collected for a while and I found that the rarest card was the black lotus. What would happen if WOTC re-released the black lotus. Anyone who has an origonal would stop purchasing WOTC (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Jasper Janssen
(...) I can't say that I'd stop purchasing their products (since I already have), but yes, I would be pretty darn pissed if they rereleased the Lotus, Juzam, Library, etc. All of which I own at least one of. Jasper (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Idea for if Lego ever revives Imperials —Frank Filz
(...) WOTC/Magic is different. The cards are promoted as "collectible" and "limited edition". The collectibility is actually the primary marketting thing behind the game. (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)
