It is *not* only the implementation. The whole idea was a stupid idea
from the very beginning, and none of those in charge thought about the
consequences of this first-grade mistake. The total failure of
communicating the mistake is just the icing sugar on top. And the
failure to correct an error when it is found is the little red cherry.

* Defining in writing, what colors have been locked i.e. defined as “universal”,
thus being “untouchable” (will have a full list once it’s ready in a few
  weeks)
"I tried to catch the baby by the ears, really!"

Which will include both bley and original white, if I read that previous
post correctly. Another dumb move, as original white goes well with
original grey, but looks horribly yellowish adjacent to bley. And no,
this is not meant as a hint to continue butchering the Lego system!

What will this famous Design Lab do with a colour palette in the middle
of this transition? Locking white kills every chance to create
reasonable-looking sets with bley and original white next to each other.
Killing off original white and creating a new white (as it was planned)
will propably cause a surprise party (pitchforks & torches included) for
those in charge. Backing out of bley and making original grey
"universal" instead of bley will not happen for the sole reason that
some at Lego might loose their face.

* Agreeing to consult core consumers (AFOLs and child enthusiasts – Club kids)
  when making future core changes.
"Sorry, we promise that we'll work hard on not dropping babies again -
can I hold your other one?".

The wording "...when making future core changes." is  a very black cloud
at the horizon. What long-term core value will die next? Taking into
account that the death of original grey was worked on since 2000, what
core values are already dead, and when will the corpses start to float?

* Working on solutions to provide either old bricks or new bricks to help ease
  the transition.
"OK. I dropped your baby. Want a puppet instead?"

Sorry, Jake, but it was really nothing really new in this post.

I failed to notice the promised "Good Thinking" - my error?

When the increasing number of colours was a problem - what rode them to
kill off a colour established 40 years ago instead of all those
superfluous heaps of pink, orange and whatnots that didn't really work
well with the rest and even among each other?

What's left is the insight that Lego did (and propably does) not
understand its customers.

There's something rotten in the state of Denmark.

Yours, Christian

Dude, Sorry you feel this way. I have sworn up and down to stay out of the color post issue, but I've had enough. I will not challenge your opinion, because that is all that it is, just an opinion. Prove to me that everyone hates what Lego is doing. (...) (21 years ago, 13-May-04, to lugnet.color)
