Well.... not *really*.
But if the thread switched a topic, usually someone changed the name on the
way too. In the web interface, you see the thread in dots, right? Standing
above any dot for a few seconds gives you a tool-tip saying the author,
subject and time; so you can see where the thread transformed.
That's the best I can do - there's not really a WAY of finding these. :-)

Also, you don't hafta feel obliged to read all the old posts... you'll catch
up soon enough! And you don't have to catch up on the reading to catch on to
the concept of CW, etc.

It seems a bit ackward to have to dig through nested things to find this message that starts this slew of messages that I just HAPPENED to stumble (...)
