Early Castle Wall Components Musings... —Richard W. Schamus
I just wanted to share some information that you may not have thought about or, have thought about and wished that TLC still did think about. I've been doing research for my Castle Wall Components project recently. This was because I had decided to (...) (25 years ago, 23-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

(...) That's fascinating! Just out of curiosity, how did you discover this? I agree with you that this Castle system was a gem. I remember well the first time that I saw the sets - in a Target store in 1984, I believe. My jaw just dropped...they (...) (25 years ago, 23-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

Unfortunately, that's when TLG also went to the grate-front-helmets-...on't-open. I was glad to see the (new) standard-helmet-with...ight-visor appear later on. ~Mark (...) (25 years ago, 23-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

(...) You wouldn't have any of those grille helmets that you would be willing to sell, would you? (Please!) -Marc (25 years ago, 24-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Early Castle Wall Components Musings... —Mark Sandlin
(...) to (...) Nope, sorry. :^) Those grille helmets were the main reason why I never wanted any of the Castle sets from that time period. IMO, I thought they looked lame, and who wants to play with a lame-looking knight? ~Mark (25 years ago, 24-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Early Castle Wall Components Musings... —James Simpson
(...) IMO, the newer visors are too large and disproportionate to the minifig's body. I think it makes the knight look a little bit comical. I'd be completely satisfied if TLC brought back the original helmet/visor piece. (25 years ago, 24-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Early Castle Wall Components Musings... —James Simpson
(...) It does look good with armor...but better with armor when the visor is flipped up, methinks. I would be happy if the helmet and visor were produced in chrome to match the chrome body armor. (25 years ago, 24-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

(...) chrome (...) That would be excellent! I have a Paladin that uses the chrome armor w/white torso & arms, white legs, & white helmet w/gray visor, but if you chromed the mini-fig torso, arms & legs, along with the helmet & visor, and you'd have (...)         Re: Early Castle Wall Components Musings... —Jason Brown
(...) Nitpick! You forgot 6073 Knight's Castle! 6073 and 6074 connect well together, too. :) On top of that, 6080 King's Castle and 6085, when opened, can both accept wall pieces, although they are on baseplates. Anyway, I'd love to see TLC return (...) (25 years ago, 23-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Early Castle Wall Components Musings... —David Eaton
(...) Yeah, it struck me as odd on that set-- as well as on 6081. The even odder thing being that even 6081 and 6034 aren't on the same level height-wise... (of course 6081 only had ONE peg... kinda useless, I thought. Not to mention harder to (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

(...) Height wasn't what I was refering to, btw. ;) I made a slight error, btw, in that it can be used to anchor the right end of a wall (looking at the wall from the outside), but it cannot be used in a spot where walls would connect to both sides.          Re: Early Castle Wall Components Musings... —Richard W. Schamus
(...) All I can respond with is, expanding a castle, such as 6073 with the other Lego wall components is an ungainly and an unpleasent site. Because of the actual castle set's very nature (6073) you end up with 2 sides of a walled city or keep that (...) (24 years ago, 30-May-00, to lugnet.castle)
