  Re: Great Hall

Benjamin, I like your castle and especially the ceilings. I never paid much attention to ceilings and now I see how wrong I was! One small quibble with your great hall, if I may -- shouldn't a fireplace have a chimney above it? Or did I miss (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Great Tower

(...) Well done. As others mentoined, lots of activity. It's obvious that you planned the interior details as you were building this up. I always seem to have a problem with that. Instead I end up detailing stuff once the exterior is finished. (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  2 new castle mocs.

Hey all you castle heads out there. I have a couple of new castle mocs to show you! First of all, I have a booby trapped bridge over a raging river of lava, built for the Classic-Castle.com How-To contest on booby traps. You might want to go over (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle)

  New Casle Sets

My 8 year old was building castles this afternoon with a friend. Later he came up to his computer and logged onto the Lego Website and sawthe new "castle"figures. He was less than thrilled. He has built Bionicles and Bionicle like things (though the (...) (21 years ago, 6-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Propeller Box (windmill)

Hey David, I am a fan of lego windmills ever since I built my first one. I really like your filled in "rigging" sails. They are quite original. Good job. Josh (21 years ago, 3-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Great Tower

I love seeing buildings with so much activity and people on the interior. Nice work! (21 years ago, 3-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Eaglestone Tavern

(...) Lenny, This is cool, a nice comfortable tavern. I think I'm going to borrow your trifold idea, too. Thanks, George (21 years ago, 2-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Eaglestone Tavern

Hi Lenny, I really like how this opens up. It provides better access to the interior and makes it much easier to 'play'. I like the interior details as well. You have just the right amount of clutter. Keep it up! James (21 years ago, 2-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Great Tower

(...) Thanks! (...) Yeah, this and the executioner are not really "set" creations. That's why I qualified the "set" goal with *most* :) I had to do some sort of great tower/keep, which doesn't lend itself to being an actual set. James (21 years ago, 2-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Great Tower

(...) Excellent detailing throughout! You also made very good use of the rock-patterned wall panels- just enough to add some variation but not overwhelming. I think you missed the "could be a set" goal for this particular alphabet project model, but (...) (21 years ago, 1-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Old Man's Hut

(...) Hey James - that is a pheasant being roasted for dinner. Thanks for the kind words! -Lenny (21 years ago, 1-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Great Tower

(...) Beautiful, Wonderful, Amazing - you have every necessary detail - it all comes together and it all snaps. -Lenny (21 years ago, 1-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Eaglestone Tavern

This, as well as the Hermit's Hut, were down well before PDX but never photographed - this one was done as an experiment in my 'tri-fold' technique of opening shops. It uses Dan Siskind's idea of roof peaks for a seamless roof that can open, but I (...) (21 years ago, 1-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX)

  Re: Old Man's Hut

(...) Beautiful! The hut has an elegant shape with attractive colors, and is well detailed. And the hermit has a bed, a table, and a dead bird on a spit. What else does anyone really need? (2 URLs) AndroDan>> Tony Hafner (URL) www.hafhead.com> (21 years ago, 1-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Old Man's Hut

Hey Lenny, Cool hermit and house! A must for any village. Is that bird a pet, or dinner? :) James (21 years ago, 1-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Great Hall

(...) Thank you. (...) Perhaps on my next moc I can try some snot experimentations for small windows to use in these situations :) (...) Yes, the plaster work took the most time and pieces. I had to search for white plates and was constantly running (...) (21 years ago, 1-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Old Man's Hut

(...) Hi Lenny, I like this new hut. The figure looks like a hermit. His hut contains a small amount of tools and furnishings for a simple lifestyle. I could definitely see this hut tucked away in the middle of a forest somewhere during medieval (...) (21 years ago, 1-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Great Hall

(...) Ben, this is an excellent build. I'd have to agree with Marc that the castle wall with no windows is plain, i think at least one would have been fun. I do enjoy the plaster walls - something I'd never do b/c of the piece usage, but it is cool (...) (21 years ago, 1-Apr-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: Great Hall

(...) Hi Marc, Thank you for your comments. I am really pleased with the plaster work also. The wall doesnt have windows because it is an exterior castle wall. A tapestry may be appropriate here because that side of the room is very plain. I was (...) (21 years ago, 31-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Old Man's Hut

After reading -Siddhartha- a while ago, I've been interested in the theme of the old, enlightened hermit. And here's my Lego hermit: (URL) -Lenny (21 years ago, 31-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX) !

  Re: Great Hall

(...) I really like the interior walls and ceilings. The plaster over the stone looks great, as do the beams on the ceiling. But the walls without windows look a little blank.   Re: #3535 for parts

(...) Uhmm... You may wanna hold back on this one!!! I just bought this set in a toy store here in Denmark. Mine came with plates in old brown and tiles in new brown! I already notified Jake and customer service on this issue. Otherwise it really is (...) (21 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: #3535 for parts

(...) I have to agree on this one. A good source of the classic (old) colors that are soon to be sadly retired. :( The price is a bit steep for the set, but it isn't too out of reach of most people. I just wish it would go on clearance more often... (...) (21 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle)

  #3535 for parts

Have all you castle folks seen set #3535 "Skateboard Street Park"? Its a great set for castle parts! It includes: 2 - 8x16 tan baseplate 1 - small evergreen tree 4 - 1x6 brown tile 2 - 2x6 brown plate 6 - 1x2 dark grey brick 14 - 1x8 grey tile 4 - (...) (21 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle)

Re: small people may change the course of the future....

(...) Hi Nathan, great work as always. I bet you built it for the CC tower bridges contest. I like the towers, the unique windows, the clear shape in the middle, just great. P.S. how many BFF you had to buy for that? :-) (URL) (21 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

Re: small people may change the course of the future....

I saw this earlier today while browsing Brickshelf and was awed. I particularly like the recessed cross-shaped windows. Too bad that LEGO doesn't make 48X48 baseplates in green. (21 years ago, 27-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

small people may change the course of the future....

(URL) ...but it was the big castles that protected them! (URL) ENTER AND BE AWED> (URL) Nathan Wells (URL) "I'm a castle fan who builds spaceships, got a problem with that?" - Me, during a debate with my friends (21 years ago, 27-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX)

  Re: Fortified city gate

(...) Thanks. The doors are 1 brick and 1 plate thick. That one picture with the rocks on the transparent bars is suppossed to show how they could withstand flying boulders from catapults. The elephant crouching is one idea I also had for it to get (...) (21 years ago, 26-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

Re: CCC Houses (and a skate ramp roof!)

(...) Heh. Now I want to redo it in brown for the gingerbread effect. Actually, when I finished building the red one, I was struck by how good it would look in a North Pole layout. Thanks. Marc Nelson Jr. (21 years ago, 25-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

Re: CCC Houses (and a skate ramp roof!)

Hi Marc, I like all three of these houses. The new roofs that you designed are great and very unique. The window design using headlight bricks is also very nice! Ben (21 years ago, 25-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)
