  Re: Village in the Sky

Hey Now why didn't I think of that before? That would be a lot more simple and clean of a solution, haha. But, would it fit ok? I mean, would there be any gappage that would be less than a plate thick? (...) (22 years ago, 17-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: More custom castle helms

Hey, Well, I'm the guy with the "LITTLE ARMORY". Any questions? Oh, and btw...BAKING sculpey? Not for such small pieces like helms. Try boiling a little water, then carefully put your piece in. Let it boil for about 2-5 minutes(size thing)and you're (...) (22 years ago, 17-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Village in the Sky

(...) Hey, I think the easiest solution would be to run two technic beams parallel to eachother, with the studs going in opposite directions. Then connect the beams at a few places with technic pins. Now you have a 2xn "brick" with a line of studs (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: More custom castle helms

Is anyoe else having problems viewing these helmets? I gte the message that Netscape cannot access the server or something. I must say have been looking foirward to seeing more of these helms, and without actually seeing them yet, I woud agree that (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Meduseld - The Golden Hall

Jon, Once again you make me despair. How can I make my Meduseld measure up to this? Beautiful work, my friend. I love it all, but some of my favorite little details are the way the roofbeams cross in the front and the little horse statue (looks kind (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: More custom castle helms (Kyle!)

(...) Thanks for the reply! In the meantime, I shaved the top off a traditional bullet helm, slapped on some binary epoxy putty, let it cure, and now I'm in the process of grinding it into something that looks like a great helm (the flat top (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: More custom castle helms (Kyle!)

Kyle, thanks for taking the time to write this up. I'm only one more who is curious about trying this, but wouldn't know what was in store before jumping in. -Erik (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Meduseld - The Golden Hall

'.........' That, is the sound of me gaping at the entire folder. Meduseld, Helm's Deep - all of it. Being a hopeless Tolkien fan, these creations are simply mind boggling. If the Valar had Lego at their disposal, this is what they would make. The (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: More custom castle helms (Kyle!)

(...) Bruce (and others), I have pretty much been lurking around at LUGNET and not actively building anything. I did draft up a quick (primitive) tutorial to help people get started on sculpting custom helmets for their minifigures. Perhaps it might (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Village in the Sky

(...) Kevin, Neat, what a nice idea. You don't see too many floating villages around. George (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Meduseld - The Golden Hall

(...) Jon, Great work, and I'm glad the /.'ing has worn off so I can see it. George (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Meduseld - The Golden Hall

Nice work, Jon. I especially like the the thin columns made up of 1x1 round bricks and plates. And the 1x1 round plates on the front of the building. Oh yeah... and in case you didn't know yet, you've been slashdotted! (URL) Rev. Brendan Powell (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Village in the Sky

Hey Kevin, That's awesome. Great idea, and nice execution! I think the best way of attaching upside down in this case would be some technic plates and pegs. Mark (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

The new poll. No flaws. Get over it.

Okay, so my last poll, according to Larry P. was "fatally flawed", so I decided to go back and create a new poll for anyone who cringed looking at my last one. (URL) you poeple enjoy this one, although I'm sure someone will point out a flaw (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.general, lugnet.space, lugnet.castle)

Take the poll. Voice your opinion.

I just finished another poll, where would you rather see lego company concentrate their product lines? You can view it here. (URL) I made this poll in multiple choice so feel free to pick as many answers as you want. <<_Matt Hein_>> Fellow lego (...)   Re: The Epic Chronicles of Ikros

(...) Hey, dan, could I have a link to your story so I could read it? I'm sure it's more interesting that you say, and reading is one of my strong suits, so I guess checking it wouldn't hurt. Thanks! <<_Matt Hein_>> Fellow lego enthusiast (22 years ago, 15-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Village in the Sky

(...) Wassssssup (...) Pretty cool place. Gotta like the houses and boats. Where did you get the idea for it? Did it just pop in your head or did you base it on something? Hasta La Vista, Sean (22 years ago, 15-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Village in the Sky

Chris and Shiri, Thanks! You sure have it right on "selective compression", in building it I was running out of parts on all fronts (BURPS, big green ninja bricks, pirate walls, blue slopes, etc etc). I wanted everything a bit bigger, but then it (...) (22 years ago, 15-Sep-02, to lugnet.castle)
