realistic minifig heads with ldraw and povray?

Hi, I'm trying to produce a realistic minifig head with povray. I tried severals head parts in MLcad but the result after conversion with L3P is always not very good. I tried LGEO parts but it is too old and only supports a very early version of the (...) (17 years ago, 1-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: My RACHAL Impossible - Hacked

(...) no, I replaced the monitor with a blue spot which maps the screenshot on the head ;-) basically it is the same trick I used for "(URL) Atmosphobic>". w. (17 years ago, 6-Jun-07, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  New FastRad Radiosity Settings

Greetings everyone! You may or may not have seen some of the renders I've made on my (URL) Brickshelf Folder>. A while ago, I posted my 'FastRad' settings there, but I think that they were a bit too messy and complicated. I have since cleaned them (...)   Re: L3P On Strike

(...) Thanks Lars, Rosco and Tim. At last, I found what was wrong. I ran msconfig and discovered a junk character presented as a "wide pipe" (or black rectangle) at the end of LDRAWDIR line. It is also visible in original MS Notepad, but not in (...) (17 years ago, 23-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: L3P On Strike

(...) If your C:\Windows\ldraw.ini contains: [LDraw] BaseDirectory=f:\LDraw it should not be necessary to set the LDRAWDIR environment variable also. Though (URL) might give the opposite impression L3P first uses LDRAWDIR if set, otherwise it looks (...) (17 years ago, 23-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: L3P On Strike

(...) In Windows XP, they should be set by Control Panel / System / Advanced / Environment variables. I put mine in the system variable section. Earlier versions of Windows may be different, although I seem to remember it was always similar. ROSCO (17 years ago, 22-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: L3P On Strike

(...) Yes, it did the trick! I just pasted "SET LDRAWDIR=F:\LDraw" into the batch file and L3P went nicely back to work. Now I have to figure out how to remind Windows please to use its enviroment variables... Thanks again! /Tore (17 years ago, 22-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: L3P On Strike

(...) Sometimes Windows seems to have a hard time remembering environment variables in DOS boxes (I'm sure there's some long, complicated and stupid system to it). Maybe add something to set them to the batch files and see if it works. Tim (17 years ago, 22-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: L3P On Strike

(...) Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, it is my method of marking that the file represents one animation frame. '@' is a legal filename character and has worked before, but to be 100% sure, I removed it from the batch file as well as from the model (...) (17 years ago, 22-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: L3P On Strike

--snip-- (...) Is the above '@' verbatim? Could it be causing the problem? Tim (17 years ago, 22-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  L3P On Strike

I have used L3P for years, and suddely it went on strike. AutoExec.bat still contains: SET LDRAWDIR=F:\LDraw And the SET command still outputs: LDRAWDIR=F:\LDraw And C:\Windows\ldraw.ini still contains: BaseDirectory=f:\LDraw But running the .bat (...) (17 years ago, 22-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: POV Color Cheat! Turn Pink into Medium Blue

(...) I thought it was, but in this case it wasn't. The color 24 line can be skipped. And the double pigment declaration was just a pure mistake; one definition is of course sufficient. :) /Tore (17 years ago, 9-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: POV Color Cheat! Turn Pink into Medium Blue

(...) Good to know. Thanks! (...) I kind of recall that. In some cases, I've seen that L3P ignores an LDraw file with just Type 0 lines. I haven't checked if the IFPOV code makes it not ignore C13-73.dat, but I just did it in a routine manner. /Tore (17 years ago, 9-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: POV Color Cheat! Turn Pink into Medium Blue

(...) If you want to see the medium blue in LDView, just add the following line to C13-73.dat (anywhere outside the IFPOV section): 0 !COLOUR Medium_Blue CODE 13 VALUE #6E99C8 EDGE 0 Tore, is the color 24 line in the file necessary in order to make (...)
