If your C:\Windows\ldraw.ini contains:
[LDraw]
BaseDirectory=f:\LDraw
it should not be necessary to set the LDRAWDIR environment variable also.
Though http://www.hassings.dk/l3/download.html#req2 might give the opposite impression
L3P first uses LDRAWDIR if set, otherwise it looks for C:\Windows\ldraw.ini

| (...) Thanks Lars, Rosco and Tim. At last, I found what was wrong. I ran msconfig and discovered a junk character presented as a "wide pipe" (or black rectangle) at the end of LDRAWDIR line. It is also visible in original MS Notepad, but not in (...) (18 years ago, 23-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)
