  Re: invisible transparent part

thanks for the heads up to check the part. I checked in MLCAD, and the part was set to ghosted. Here is the rendering: (URL) canopy is temp until the actual part is released. The part, just incase someone cares, is: 41883 Smoke Windscreen 4 x 6 x 2 (...) (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: invisible transparent part

(...) Are you using the LGEO switch in L3P? If so, and there is an LGEO file for the canopy, and that file is corrupt in some way, maybe the definition of the part is not being included in the POV output - try turning off the LGEO switch and see if (...)   invisible transparent part

why does the canopy of my space pod disappear in my rendering when I render using pov-ray. -tk (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Excellent rendering...

(...) Adding a focal length won't make a POV rendering look that good, though. The reason it looks so good is because the renderer that rendered it appears to be very very good. I imagine the fact that is illuminated with an area light is in large (...) (22 years ago, 27-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) If it's not in the latest POV-Ray version, then it is at least in Mega-POV-Ray. I don't remember right now... Fredrik (22 years ago, 27-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Excellent rendering...

(...) My words exactly. It is only the segmented surfaces on the round brick in the foreground that reveals that it is a rendering. - Okay. There is also a revealing lack of ridges between the bricks. (...) Yes. Has POV-Ray implemented rendering (...) (22 years ago, 27-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Excellent rendering...

(...) To put this into perspective, the Brazil Artist Bundle is $1200, which includes one workstation license and two render node licenses. It is an amazingly good render, though. --Travis Cobbs (tcobbs@REMOVE.halibut.com) (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Excellent rendering...

It's rendered with the Brazil renderer inside 3ds max.... and.. not by me..... THL (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Excellent rendering...

(...) That is a rendering? Wow. I think the slightly out of focus effect, combined with the "area lights" makes the rendering look very credible. If it's done with (Mega)POV-Ray, I bet the rendering was pretty CPU intensive... Fredrik (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Hi. If you take a look at (URL) you'll see a great raytrace of a Formula 1 car.... THL (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: How to do "Glow In the Dark" effect ?

(...) The easiest way is to increase the ambient value for the glow in the dark color: #declare AMB = 0.4; #declare DIF = 0.4; #declare GLOWAMB = 0.6; #declare GLOWDIF = 0.4; // glow in the dark #ifndef (Color21) #declare Color21 = #if (version >= (...)   First animation or my mech 'prototype'

I've finished my first animation, using the mech prototype (with a improved head) It's only 8 seconds but it took almost 1.5 hours to render. I've managed to squeeze it in a 1.4MB 400x300 Divx 5 file. It's not the best quality (compared to the 260MB (...) (22 years ago, 19-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.cad.ray)

  How do I use POV-Ray?!?!

Hi everyone! All righty, I FINALLY got Lego CAD stuff to work and can build my own models now. I LOVE the 3D stuff and want to know how to do it. So here's my question: Once I build my model using MLCAD, how can I get it into POV-Ray 3D style? I (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)
