thanks for the heads up to check the part.  I checked in MLCAD, and the part
was set to ghosted.  Here is the rendering:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=235186

the canopy is temp until the actual part is released.  The part, just incase
someone cares, is:

41883    Smoke    Windscreen 4 x 6 x 2 Canopy

any suggestions for better quality?

why does the canopy of my space pod disappear in my rendering when I
render using pov-ray.

Are you using the LGEO switch in L3P? If so, and there is an LGEO file for
the canopy, and that file is corrupt in some way, maybe the definition of
the part is not being included in the POV output - try turning off the • LGEO
switch and see if that fixes it. Or maybe the LGEO part has a different
origin and/or orientation from the LDRAW part and so it's being rendered
inside your model rather than where it's supposed to be.

Have you searched the POV file for the part number of the canopy. Maybe
there's something funny with it which means the transparency is being
treated as invisibility. If you change the colour of the canopy does it • get
rendered? If not then it points to a problem in L3P or the LGEO library in
that the POV definition isn't being generated or is incorrect.
