Hmmm I actually create my rendered files a little differently.
If you use MLCAD, you most certainly can see the x,y,z co-ordinates in
the bottom left corner when you move the mouse around in the Top,
Down, Left, Right, Front and Back "View Angles" (everything except the
3D view).
These co-ordiantes will appy directly to the "camera position" and
"look at" values in POV Ray.
So In MLCAD you can select the exact part you want to look at... IE if
I select a wing (in MLCAD) off a space ship, the wing may have a
co-ordinate value of 100,0,-10 (look in the "Model Part List" window).
In POV Ray, I can change the POVRAY camera "look at" value to
100,0,-10 to look towards this exact peice. Then I can change where
the camera is located. If I'm not sure what numbers to put in POV Ray
I can go to MLCAD and move the mouse around the "TOP" view angle
windows to get an idea of what direction in the co-ordinates get
larger, or go into the negatives.

Ps If this doesn't make enough sense, let me know. I am willing to
create a detailed tutorial in MLCAD/POVRay and put it up on my web
site. (I teach computer software for a living :-).
Pss a seond hint... If you just keep re-rendering very small images
(160 x 120 No AA), you can play with the values until you get the
exact camera and look at values you want and then render a larger
picture.
