That's not actually true.  BrickDraw3D (http://olson.pair.com/brickdraw3d/)
preceded it.  However, BrickDraw3D was last updated on Nov 23, 2002, so it seems
to be a project that's no longer in development.

I believe that Mac Brick CAD also preceded it, but that project's home page is
now gone, so it's difficult to get a history.  Also, ldglite was probably
compiled on the Mac prior to BrickSmith's release, but I'm not sure how many
people use ldglite as their LDraw editor.
