Dan's shortening seems acceptable to me, especially in this context.
The LSC is a group of people elected by the LDraw community and sponsored by
LDraw.org to be responsible for this maintenance. The central resource for the
file format is still LDraw.org.
LSC stands for LDraw.org Standards Committee :-)

When you think of LDraw.org, there are two possible interpretations. The
website, http://www.ldraw.org, and the community organization. Right now there
is no Organization (capital O), but we see the need for one and are making moves
towards it (hence, bylaws drafts). So, while I agree the technical standards are
not necessarily goverend by the people working on the website, they are not
separated from the idea (and eventual reality) of a community organization.

We just released a brand new site, and are still working to get that up to
speed. As someone who's been spending hours each day this week tweaking site
stuff (and knowing that several others have been doing the same), I'm not
surprised at all its not up there :-) If you would like to contribute, there is
a "Submit News" link on the menu which you can see when you have logged in.
Once things have settled down, I for one do want to see mentions of happenings
in the LEGO CAD world on the site. In fact, its been my plan for some time to
start doing this. But, right now we have a site to finish getting up to speed.

I'd love to see other libraries hosted on the site, once we've had the time to
build the structure for them to be hosted within. Most of that revolves around
organization of content, but then there are the obvious questions of - who
maintains the new libraries, who owns them, what are the license issues ... etc.
Definitely something to talk about. Of course, in my future involvement with
LDraw.org, I intend to fulfill #7. But, there are only so many hours in the day
and I (and others) can only do so much at once. Right now that precious time
goes into the overhead of getting a site up to speed and managing contributors.
That won't last forever, and soon enough I (and others) will have the extra
bandwidth to act on this.
