  Visual part database idea

Hi all, Jake McKee e-mailed me with a idea; a poster with all the dat-parts rendered in POV-Ray with part number and discription on it. I thought, "Wow, that would be great but how do I get 10.000 parts (yes I know now, it is "just" 2500) on a (...)   Re: "Hold" placed on tyre (was Re: Tyre for this wheel, does it exist in the distro?

"TWS Garrison" <tgarrisBASSo@ISmath...urdue.edu> skrev i meddelandet news:Pine.GSO.4.44.0...due.edu... (...) I think this is a very important point! As soon as a part has the right orientation, zero point and outer dimensions, it can be _used_ for (...) (22 years ago, 14-May-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: "Hold" placed on tyre (was Re: Tyre for this wheel, does it exist in the distro?

(...) This relates to what I think is something important to consider for the future development of the LDraw library: rating parts. I see advantages to adopting a rating scale like, say: Not suitable -- not yet voted on, or with errors which make (...) (22 years ago, 13-May-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  File Format Conversion Tutorial added

I have just added Jeroen de Haan and Jake McKee's tutorial entitled 'Converting LDR Files to POV Files for Rendering' to the LDraw.org tutorials section. My apologies to the authors for it taking as long as it did to get online. You can view it (...) (22 years ago, 11-May-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

ldraw.org's MOTM & SOTM Winners for April 2002 - Voting too!

Hi all, This months winners for LDraw.org's Model & Scene of the Month have been posted to: (URL) MOTM winner is Matt with a fine train engine titled simply "T2". Sounds ominous, doesn't it? Our SOTM winner is KACS (as he is known) with a remarkably (...) (22 years ago, 2-May-02, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw) !

Re: [Parts Tracker] Re-numbering "Star Wars" patterns...

(...) :p That animation is older than the minifig parts. As is the animated file on this page: (URL) (well, ok, that is older than *some* of the minifig parts). Steve (22 years ago, 29-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: [Parts Tracker] Re-numbering "Star Wars" patterns...

(...) Cool! I have no idea what the nature of the dispute is, but I do know that it must be an essentially thankless task to be the administrator of the parts updates and that it may seem like an anonymous task to be a parts author. I just hope (...) (22 years ago, 27-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: rebuttal...

Since I was appealed to in Franklin's email and post, I am adding my comments in reply to some of the posts here. Steve knows this, but it might not be public knowledge -- I do not get involved in the trenches when it comes to parts. Steve has (...) (22 years ago, 26-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: rebuttal...

(...) This is my second reply, covering some side points Franklin brought up. (...) Yes, that's true. There's one from January, two from February, and 12 from March. To be exact, there are 10 files which are currently waiting for admin review, and (...) (22 years ago, 25-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: [Parts Tracker] Re-numbering "Star Wars" patterns...

(...) The main reason for suspending review privileges is simplicity - I just pulled all privileges. I hope we'll get this worked out quickly, and get back on the road. I *definitely* do not want to lose Franklin as a contributor; he is too valuable (...) (22 years ago, 25-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: [Parts Tracker] Re-numbering "Star Wars" patterns...

(...) Please Steve, Motivate the suspension as a reviewer. Suspension as a submitter MAY be necessary to keep control. Suspension as a reviewer clearly ressembles a sanction. What posted review justifies this sanction? Best regards, Damien (22 years ago, 25-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: rebuttal...

(...) I'm only replying here. I'm going to post two replies, one addressing the current issue, the second to address Franklin's charges against me. (...) I understand your position. I also pointed out to you that 'fixing' this problem would cause (...) (22 years ago, 25-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: rebuttal...

(...) Hello Franklin, Hello Steve, I pray so that you stay or return to concordance. I can not imagine LDraw without you. I am sure there is nothing personal so there must be a way back to a friendly cooperative work. The Part Tracker would have no (...) (22 years ago, 25-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  rebuttal...

(This is a copy of my reply to Steve...) Steve, As I mentioned to you on several occasions, I wanted to fix this problem with the mis-match of the pattern numbers. As I mentioned to you on several occasions, I am the type of person, who, when he (...) (22 years ago, 25-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: [Parts Tracker] Re-numbering "Star Wars" patterns...

(...) Franklin, As I notified you via email, your privileges to submit parts and post reviews on the Parts Tracker have been temporarily suspended. This is a direct result of your actions in posting 3626bps4.dat and 3626bps6.dat. For the time being, (...) (22 years ago, 25-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: [LCAD] plz help me fix 3626bps4...
