  Re: New LDraw contest?

(...) Great Idea. Have been waiting for this for a while. I feel that you should base the time frame on how many responses you get. If a lot of people enter then every month is good. If not then adjust. If nothing else will show what can be done (...) (20 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

(...) Well, it didn't work this afternoon immediately after I followed the advice in your other message to me to join the OTHER part of ldraw.org, but it works now. On a side note, Tim, why does your name have an asterisk after it on the ballot? (...) (20 years ago, 1-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: New LDraw contest?

No way! I couldn't wait for a bi-annual competition. I'll admit that though I'm not so skilled with animation, I'm still learning and experimenting with new things, such as camera/model rotation etc. It might not even need to be a contest. It could (...) (20 years ago, 18-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, FTX)

  Re: New LDraw contest?

(...) I say why not have both. I like Orion's idea of a web contest, its light, low overhead, and let the users decide the winner by voting. It will do well to showcase work and also to stimulate competition with little work output on Orion's (...) (20 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: New LDraw contest?

(...) Quarterly would be okay, but i think bi-annual is more realistic. Most animations are still "infant" in nature, with the exception of one or two indiviudals that have learned to harnest the power of POV-Ray animation. -AHui A&M LWorks (URL) (20 years ago, 18-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, FTX)

  Re: New LDraw contest?

(...) Quarterly sounds good to me too. Since this has the potential to be really cool, and its not as often as once a month, I wonder what the chance of getting people/companies to sponsor small prizes (less than USD 50 value) for the winners?   LDraw.org Steering Committee Candidates - A summary
