No, moving the hose segments to parts/s/ would NOT prevent the
shrinkage problem.
It doesn't matter whether a part is located in PARTS or PARTS/S,
it is still considered as a part.
Whenever a (sub-)part is referenced from another part, it is not shrunk further.
Only the model-to-part reference is shrunk.
Think e.g. of 3935.DAT "Wing 4 x 4 Right" which simply references
3936.DAT "Wing 4 x 4 Left"
Therefore IMHO the solution is to put all pieces of a curved hose into
a new part (or an MPD subfile).
Then the complete hose will be shrunk as a whole when referenced from
the model, just like the other parts referenced from the model.
