How much is too much? —Roy Earls
A short while ago Onyx produced a MAX2DAT converter which seemed like such a good idea I was inspired to look into converting from other text based formats. I chose VRML files to start with because they seemed very much alike to the DAT format. (...) (26 years ago, 18-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: How much is too much? —Jeff Boen
(...) basically the rule of thumb i try to stick with, is the basis for our point of origin primitive... the stud.. the standard LDraw stud uses a 16-segment cylinder... so whenever possible i try to use 16-sided cylinders anytime i'm dealing with a (...)         Re: How much is too much? —Chris Dee
(...) Sorry missed the relevance of this (the classic space helmet part) first time around. I'll try and take a critical look at it tonight. I tend to agree with Jeff Boen about using the basic 16-sided polygon, but do appreciate how facetted this can make things (...) (25 years ago, 6-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: How much is too much? —Roy Earls
I've come to an impasse with converting DAT to VSA (Videoscape) and I'm considering trying another format, but in the mean time for those who need to use a mock up of the Classic Space Helmet in your models I've put three DATs up on Trellan (...) I didn't read through the text, but it looks like you put quite a bit of time into making the pages. Good job :) Ryan "Build or build not. There is no (...)
