Re: Special tools used to build/design parts?

(...) The latest version of L3P does support POV commands that can replace the .DAT commands to give nice smooth curved surfaces while ray-tracing. Look here for examples: (URL) (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Special tools used to build/design parts?

(...) I'd like to add to Andy's call for info. I have to, he beat me to it :] My uninformed understanding is that parts are currently created by manuipulating text files, much like one could manually make POV-Ray files? But there is no GUI-type (ie, (...) (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Special tools used to build/design parts?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if there are any special 3d design tools that people are using to create parts. I checked the LDraw.org pages and mostly saw viewers. Anyone? Any opinions on the best tools for a potential new designer? -Andy Lynch (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: help!! what color code is "burgundy"?

(...) Hmmmm... I'll look at those. I've already posted the DAT file, wherein I used 464, but if these two look more like the "real" one, I'll change the DAT file and send the revision to you, OK? Thanks! Franklin (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: help!! what color code is "burgundy"?

(...) How about 260 or 261? I don't have an example of the part handy, but I seem to remember it was a kidney-bean purple sort of burgundy. Steve (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

help!! what color code is "burgundy"?

I need a dithered color code for "burgundy", the purple-brown color of the vest worn by the "bare chested Pirate". All of the color codes I've tried for this subfile ("(URL) don't look quite right.   New Parts in 2001

Just opened my first 7146 set, the new Star Wars TIE Fighter. MmmMMMMmmmm, lovely triangular girder. Wonderful new flexible deep-ribbed hose. Must resists urge to LDraw ... must resist ... must ... Well, at least until tomorrow. :) Steve (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Ldraw.organization (was: License revision 1)

(...) As a somewhat innocent bystander, I'd like to see it stay LDraw.org, which is why I used the LDraw family of applications to refer to programs which will ultimately derrive from the work James started. (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: License - again

This is probably something which should be properly ironed out with the Jessiman's. They will have to decide to what (...) (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Ldraw.organization

(...) Right. But if something new and plainly better (in all aspects) comes along, we can as easily label it "LDraw Mk II" as any other name. Assuming the author(s) would go along willingly, of course. :) Steve (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Throwbot parts

Has anyone modeled the little flap piece that goes on the head of throwbots? It's usually patterned. I know the head piece has been done and is in the Technic category, but I'm not sure even where I would look for the flap piece. -John Van (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Ldraw.organization (was: License revision 1)

I was under the impression that we could get together and write a completely new program that wouldn't rely on the current LDraw format, the only thing left from the current programs would be the parts library imported until parts were redone (...)
