Re: A screenshot for those who ask how I make parts.

(...) Actually I had the "high quality turned off. It does work. I just needed the lines to show up better while I was creating them. (...) After almost every line change. Ctrl-S shortcut.   Re: I'm doing the revolving/"secret" door parts

(...) The only other occurance of this type that I am aware of is the bucket lids. Some of these have two moulded on numbers, which are clearly part numbers. I've been advised in the past that this was because the large LEGO / DUPLO logos are (...) (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: A screenshot for those who ask how I make parts.

Cool! Looks like you could use a bigger monitor ;-). However, I must admit, that's an impressively efficient use of screen real estate. The LDView window also proves that OpenGL can even sometimes be useful without 3D acceleration. It's a shame the (...) (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

A screenshot for those who ask how I make parts.

Here is just a screenshot while I was working on a current part. (URL) hope this answers a few peoples questions. (Lars, does this give you any ideas?) Paul (URL) (finished parts) (URL) (in process) (URL) (planned) (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: I'm doing the revolving/"secret" door parts  [DAT]

(...) Nah, it's just a hidden door, with a frame. Just like any other door-in-frame assembly. Just my opinion, of course. (...) Hmm. This *could* call for a "~Moved to" file, but "~Moved to"'s have historically been caused by corrections within the (...) (24 years ago, 10-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: I'm doing the revolving/"secret" door parts

(...) So, you're saying these should be of the "Door" CATEGORY, and not of the "Panel" CATEGORY? I'm not sure I agree, 'cuz this meta-part assembly is supposed to be a _wall_ (i.e., a panel) that just _happens_ to include a secret/revolving door. In (...)   Re: I'm doing the revolving/"secret" door parts

(...) How about: 30101.DAT Door 2 x 8 x 6 Frame Revolving 30102.DAT Door 2 x 8 x 6 Revolving 30102P01.DAT Door 2 x 8 x 6 Revolving with Ninja Pattern I'm not keen on using themes in part names, but in this case, I can't think of a better name.   Re: I'm doing the revolving/"secret" door parts

(...) I recomend using 30102 because both 30101.dat, the frame and the door would have been created at the same time so it would fit that they would use part numbers that are next to each other. (24 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

I'm doing the revolving/"secret" door parts

I'm calling "dibs" on the following: 30101.dat, "Panel 2 x 8 x 6 Revolving Frame" 30102.dat (30344.dat?), "Panel 2 x 8 x 6 Revolving Door" 30102p01.dat, "Panel 2 x 8 x 6 Revolving Door - Ninja pattern" These were the best names I could think of.   Re: Searching for parts

(...) Yes, it does matter. L3P/L3Lab give you a warning SKIPPING "a.mpd" Line 4: FILE b.dat already read: 0 FILE B.DAT and 'some stuff' gets treated as part of file A.DAT. So here 'some other stuff' and 'some stuff' get drawn. (...) Right, my (...) (24 years ago, 8-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Searching for parts

(...) That's what I assumed. (...) Does it matter if C.DAT references B.DAT *before* referencing A.MPD? This would change the example to: (...) That makes sense, and is simpler to implement. And could even be useful, under certain circumstances. (...) (24 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Searching for parts

(...) I'm glad you agree. (...) L3P/L3Lab will draw 'some stuff' twice. The file B.DAT is never loaded, as the subfile B.DAT was loaded during reading A.MPD. It doesn't matter whether subfile A.DAT references B.DAT or not. An MPD should be regarded (...) (24 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Searching for parts  [DAT]

(...) Yeah, I realized (after posting my message), that it was a problem with LDLite handling a subfile which was an MPD. I changed to the equivalent DAT, and everything's fine now. (...) Good point. Your "1. Inside the document if it is an MPD" (...) (24 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Searching for parts

  Re: Searching for parts

(...) The FAQ is not quite correct. Step #1 should be last, not first. Strictly speaking, LDraw 'searches' by trying to access files, named as follows. (This is taken directly from the LDraw code). 'p/' + <filename> 'parts/' + <filename> 'models/' + (...) (24 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
