You might try using Tore's CMDLINE meta-statement.
It would go something like:

0 CMDLINE -c383

Well, I wasn't actually trying to _force_ anyone who wants to use this
to use color code # 383 (and only that one), I was just assuming
that someone who may be somewhat forgetful (like, for instance, _ME_) :-P
might need to be _reminded_ of the correct color code to use.  :-)

CMDLINE is intended to document 'suggested' viewing defaults for a file.
So if you make a model that should be viewed from the bottom, at 50%
scale, with blue as the main color, you could add those settings to a
CMDLINE statement.

Right now, CMDLINE doesn't *do* anything.  At least, I don't know of any
software that recognizes it as a command.  And even if software started
to recognize this statement, it should use the information as default
settings, not to override settings supplied by the user.

BTW, Just where are these mysterious META commands documented at?

Nowhere, sorry.  Well, that's not quite accurate.  There is no single,
canonical list of meta-commands.  LDraw has some meta-commands, LDLite
has some meta-commands (and language extensions), the MPD format
specifies the FILE meta-command, LDAO has a couple of commands it
recognizes, and I expect that MLCAD has a few commands (I haven't looked
at an MLCAD file to know for sure).

You can find documentation for LDraw meta-commands in the LDraw FAQ at
<www.ldraw.org/faq/>, or (I think) in the ldraw.doc file in your ldraw
directory.

LDLite extensions are documented in the ldlite*.html file, in your
ldlite installation directory.  I believe the docs are somewhat
scattered through the "update notes", but are mostly in one place.

MPD documentation is on Jacob's site.  I don't remember the URL right,
but they've been posted here within the last few days.

LDAO command(s) are documented somewhere starting from
<http://blisses.home.att.net/ldao/ldaoinfo.html>.

I haven't seen any MLCAD documentation.  Then again, I haven't looked
for it.

Am I cleared for this information, now?  ;-)

Depends.  Did you receive the registered-mail package with the secret
handshake information?

Steve
