I goofed on the spelling; it's "ambient" and not "ambience". Anyway, modify
in the "finish" section of the sub-part you want to light up. e.g. in the
L3P output file, find the sub-part you want to light up, and change from:
finish {
ambient AMB
diffuse DIF
}
to:
finish {
ambient 2
diffuse DIF
}
You'll need to play around with the value; basically anything over 1 (one)
will appear to be brighter than the surrounding objects.

p.s. Your e-mail client's line-wrapping is messing up the message text.
What do you have your wrapping set to? Almost everyone uses a value between
75 and 79.
