    Re: Voting Comments —Chris Dee
(...) The back of the head in the subpart does indeed use a 2-4cyli primitive. You have a good point, but I am concerned about the two slices of cone-like quads which form the curves above and below the cylindrical face area (on the front of the (...)      (...) Yes, at least it makes a difference if the lines are drawn before or after the surrounding/contrasting color quads. LDraw (and LDLite) favor the earlier-drawn object, when two objects occupy the same space. Always draw edge-lines first. Steve (25 years ago, 18-May-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) Is that so? I can't remember having read that in the FAQ. I'll make sure to sort the edges first, now that I know of this. Fredrik (25 years ago, 18-May-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

          Re: Voting Comments —Steve Bliss
(...) I've thought about writing a function in LDAO to sort a DAT file by line-type: first the 2 (edges) and 5 (conditionals), then the 1 (may be edges, surfaces, or both) then the 3 (triangles) and 4 (quads). Steve (25 years ago, 18-May-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Is there already a button for this? It had odd results when I tried it long ago IIRC. -John Van Steve Bliss <blisses@worldnet.att.net> wrote in message news:3741a8a1.208175...net.com... (...) (25 years ago, 18-May-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) There's a Sort function, but it sorts by position, bottom-to-top, back-to-front. I put it there to help me transition models from the "adding pieces to the file when it's convenient" mode to the "present new pieces in order for other people to (...)           Re: Voting Comments —Steve Bliss
(...) Order of drawing doesn't matter, except for coincident objects. For transparent surfaces vs. edges, it matters even less: the edge must 'show through' the surface, or the renderer isn't working right. LDraw and LDLite both display transparent (...)       (...) Yes, that reordering will render just fine. I don't know how much it will speed up rendering. It would be interesting to find out. Steve (25 years ago, 21-May-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)
