  Re: part request or info

[Replying in .cad & .cad.dev to a message posted in .cad.dat.parts; Followups to .cad.dev] (...) Just a reminder -- (not to pick on Michael or anyone in particular): The .cat.dat.parts group is for posting parts in LDraw DAT format, plus any (...)   Piece authoring question...

When designing a part with a graphic on it, like a minifig torso, for instance, is it possible to "overlap" image shapes of different colors, or must there only be one "level" of image on a surface? How would LDraw represent a DAT which had layered (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

(...) Should it stay this way, or should we move towards a more structured organization? If so, what are the criteria for membership? Does the group need a leader(s), and if yes, what is the role(s) of the leader(s)? (...) But it (or the JJ (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LDraw DAT certification for clones?

(...) ?? (...) I agree. It looks to me that the article could be edited for clarity and layout. Someone with better knowledge of the DAT file than me want to do that? Either I or someone else can put it in the ldraw.org page format, the template is (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

(...) Right now, the website pretty much *is* the organization. We don't have a membership list, or a secret handshake, or even a definition of who's in the group. I'm alright with this loose organization, but I feel that there isn't a big point of (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: What is the IP for ldraw.org?

(...) ...Cool! :-, I've needed this functionality on my NT box for a *long* time, and it never occurred to me that MS could've gotten this one right. ;-) Thanks! Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: What is the IP for ldraw.org?

(...) In Windows, looks for the hosts file in the main Windows directory. If it isn't there, create one. If you use Notepad, be sure it doesn't change the filename to hosts.txt when you save it. Steve (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: LDraw DAT certification for clones?

(...) Question #20. I don't about "official", but I have some other words to describe it... That article (question 20) is too large for the FAQ, and should be broken out as a separate item/page on the website. (...) Seems like the best way to go (...)   Re: Line in the Sand

(...) I like your explanation better, but I think we're both missing the point: this paragraph is supposed to be about INVERTNEXT, not inversion. Fewer details are appropriate at this point. More details should go in (1) the explanation of inversion (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: What is the IP for ldraw.org?

(...) Thanks for the fix but I am on a windows box which does not have an etc folder. I have e-mailed tech support and will see what happens. -- Jonathan Wilson wilsonj@xoommail.com (URL) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: What is the IP for ldraw.org?

Jonathan: (...) For a temporary fix, append the following line to "/etc/hosts" (that's the name of the file in Unix): 130.226.51.217 hugin.risoe.dk www.ldraw.org That way your machine will skip looking www.ldraw.org up through DNS.   Re: What is the IP for ldraw.org?

Re: LDraw DAT certification for clones?
